The Story:

With only two months until the 2010 ConocoPhillips National Championships, Allison Schmitt has two meets remaining before Irvine.

Coming off of several intense weeks of altitude training at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Co., Schmitt is looking forward to racing well at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club June Invitational this weekend in Baltimore and heading to France for the Paris Open later this month.

“I’m just excited to compete and see where I am at this point,” Schmitt said. “We have been having a hard three weeks at altitude, which is getting us prepared for August, so I am looking forward to seeing where that puts me.”

After the Paris Open, Schmitt will stay in France for another training camp. Even though the hard weeks of focused training are necessary preparations for August, Schmitt hopes that they may get to do some sightseeing, as it is her first time in Paris.

“The training camp is in France right after the meet, so hopefully between practices and dryland we will be able to go and see some of the country.”

With her goals firmly set for the meets in June, Schmitt is ready to put all of her hard training to the test in Irvine.

“I am looking to do the best I can, which is all I can ask for at any meet, but I am definitely aiming to make the [ Pan Pac] team and see where that takes me,” Schmitt said. “I had a rough meet at Charlotte, but I have recovered from that. We’ve been training hard and training well so I am looking forward to relaxing and having fun at Nationals where it will all pay off.
