Simple, satisfying, and easy to carry around, trail mix is a travel staple. Try this simple recipe and package it in air-tight containers or sealable plastic bags. Or, try a trail mix of your own. Experiment with this recipe by adding your own favorite small snacks to the mix. It’s perfect for car rides, long hikes or days at the beach.
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup dry breakfast cereal
1 cup salted peanuts
1 cup yogurt-covered raisins
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup cashews
1 cup dried apple pieces
1 cup butterscotch chips
1 cup mini-pretzels
1 cup dried pineapple
1/2 cup mini-marshmallows
INSTRUCTIONS:
Mix the ingredients together in a large plastic, sealable bag. Shake well. Enjoy!
Tip: Let kids create their very own trail mix by picking 6 items from the list above. Set up a “make your own trail mix” station and help them put their chosen items into plastic containers or bags. Label the bags or containers with their names so they have their own individual treats.
