Camera Free Zones at FGC Meets
PURPOSE: In accordance with the Code of Conduct governing athletes and members, Florida Gold Coast Swimming (“FGC”) requires all meet hosts to establish “Camera Free Zones” at FGC sanctioned meets. The purpose of the FGC policy is to protect and keep athletes and members free from being photographed or recorded for an illicit purpose or in an inappropriate fashion at any FGC sanctioned meet, without interfering with permissible or acceptable conduct. The policy is not intended to alter or override any applicable rules, ordinances, or laws of the State, municipality or facility or to interfere with those bearing press credentials issued and/or authorized by the facility.
THE CAMERA FREE ZONE: The FGC default camera free zone consists of the areas from the end of the competition course to the venue perimeter (behind the blocks at the active start-end) to all locker rooms, changing areas, showers and restrooms. No person may use a camera or any other device capable of recording still or video images in these “zones.”@ Meet hosts may extend or establish additional camera free zones in the venue as may be permitted or regulated by the facility or any other governmental body.
The Meet Director working in conjunction with the facility staff is responsible for monitoring compliance with this policy.@ Those who violate the policy may be reported to law enforcement or other governmental authorities and/or may be barred from the facility during the sanctioned event.
REQUIRED POSTINGS: The following statement must be included in the Meet Announcement and must be posted at the entrance to the venue:
“The Florida Gold Coast Swimming CAMERA FREE ZONE policy is in effect at this meet.@ No person may use a camera or any other device capable of recording still or video images in the area behind the starting blocks, in the locker rooms, changing areas, showers or restrooms, (add additional areas as necessary).@ Violators may be reported to law enforcement or other governmental authorities and/or may be barred from the facility during the sanctioned event.”
