North Florida Swimming offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of North Florida Swimming to offer age-specific training that provides the athlete with the best techniques and training methods to encourage a successful and long-lasting swimming career.
NFS PRACTICE GROUPS:
Senior II Group
The Senior II Group is for mostly high school students who have a goal to obtain championship, zone and national time standards. It is designed to help put the athlete in a strong position to swim in college. This standard requires a strong commitment to academic and athletic excellence. This group requires a Coach Recommendation.
Equipment needed: Speedo long training fins, Speedo Biofuse fins, Kickboard, Yoga Mat, and Water Bottle, Shoes/Clothes for Dry Lands
Senior I Group
The Senior I Group is for mostly high school students that have a desire to improve their swimming skills and competition times.
Equipment needed: Speedo long training fins, Speedo Biofuse fins, Kickboard, Yoga Mat, and Water Bottle,Shoes/Clothes for Dry Lands
Silver Group
The Silver Group is for swimmers aged 11 - 14 who have the experience and ability to step up to a higher level of training. This group is designed to help the athlete strive to achieve State meet time standards with the eventual goal of moving into the Senior Group. This group requires a Coach Recommendation.
Equipment needed: Speedo long Training fins, Speedo Biofuse fins, Kickboard, Yoga Mat, and Water Bottle, Shoes/Clothes for Dry Lands
Green Group
The Green II Group is for swimmers aged 10 – 14. Its purpose is to provide the opportunity for the swimming athlete to step up his or her training and stroke technique with the goal to improve and gain experience with the eventual goal of moving into the Green III or Senior I group.
Equipment needed: Speedo long Training fins, Speedo Biofuse fins, Kickboard, Yoga Mat, and Water Bottle,Shoes/Clothes for Dry Lands
Blue Group
The mission of the Blue Group is to provide the opportunity for young swimmers to improve their competitive strokes and to help them learn the basics of swim team workouts and competition. 1 hour practice.
Equipment needed: Speedo long Training fins, and Kickboard
PreTeam Group
The mission of the PreTeam Group is to provide the opportunity for newer swimmers to learn the basics of swim team practice - reading the pace clock, circle swimming, dives, turns, improving stroke skills. Must have good side breathing freestyle, and be able to swim backstroke, and some breaststroke and the beginnings of butterfly. Swimmers register for USA Swimming, do two 40-minute workout sessions a week & when ready may be in meets.
Equipment needed: Speedo long Training fins, and Kickboard
Hybrid Group
Hybrid swimmers do 1 stroke technique class a week and swim in a workout once a week. Hybrid swimmer workout levels are PreTeam or Blue. Each technique session is tailored to the specific needs of that group of swimmers, such as perfecting butterfly, specific turn work, better side breathing freestyle.
Stroke School & Technique group or private stroke lessons for swimmers who know how to swim but need to learn how to do the strokes well and for competitive athletes who need stroke analysis and technique work.
Learn-to-Swim for all ages: Babies, children, adults. All levels and abilities. Year-round swim school. Heated water in the winter.
