Welcome to Swim Kauai Aquatics, where we are thrilled to have you as part of our dedicated team of volunteer parents! Your involvement plays a vital role in creating a supportive and successful environment for our swimmers. Whether you are helping at swim meets, assisting with events, or providing behind-the-scenes support, your contribution is key to making our program a positive experience for everyone. Together, we build a strong community that not only enhances the athletic development of our swimmers but also fosters a sense of camaraderie and pride. Meet Roles
No Training Required
Awards - Put labels on the appropriate ribbon at swim meets.
Keiki Wrangler - Assist the coach in organizing and lining up 8 and under swimmers for their events.
Facility Set Up - Help set up for a swim meet. This includes setting up tables and tents and putting touch pads in the water.
Facility Take Down - Help clean up after a swim meet. This includes taking down tables, removing touch pads, and putting equipment away.
Lane Timer - Help time the swimmers in individual lanes. Two timers per lane are needed at every meet.
Concessions - Our club operates a Concession Stand. We need volunteers responsible for many aspects of this job including menu
selection, labor organization, purchasing of food and drinks, and stand operation.
Hospitality - During invitational events our club hosts a Hospitality Table for the coaches and officials working the meet. Help determine the menu, procure and purchase food, serve and staff the table for breakfast, lunch,and snacks.
Deck Marshall
- Deck marshals ensure a safe and orderly environment at swim meets by enforcing rules, managing warm-ups, and addressing any unsafe or inappropriate behavior, including monitoring locker rooms and electronic device use.

Training or Certificate Required
Time spent on the certification process counts as volunteer hours. A first-year Official will complete most of that year's volunteer credits through the certification process.
Referee - Head Official responsible for the swim meet, officials, judges, swimmers, and more. Works with the Meet Director and makes final calls regards to disqualifications and meet malfunctions.
Starter - Responsible for starting the swimmers for each event. Works directly with the Referee on the pool deck.
Stroke and Turn Judge - Trains to observe and ensure swimmers perform their strokes and turns correctly. Responsible for disqualifying
swimmers based on incorrect stroke or turn. Works on the pool deck during the meet.
Meet Director - Responsible for each meet, working with Coaches, setup teams, and volunteers for various areas of responsibility. The final decision-maker for meet operations.
Timing System Operator - Ensures that the meet management system works with the timing system. Enters times and disqualifications, manages last-minute swimmer changes, prints Heat Sheets for officials, and prints results at hosted meets.
Administrative Official - Responsible for official times and record-keeping. Reviews paperwork for each event, the timing system, and the
computer system.
Announcer - Announces the beginning and ending of a meet, breaks, events, and heats.
Head Timer - Maintain extra timing watches during a meet in an event that one of the lane timer malfunctions, recruit lane timers, and assist them.
