Weather Related Cancellations

If the Johnston Community School District cancels school/activities or dismisses early due to weather and/or road conditions, Blaze practice will also be cancelled. 

If severe weather conditions arise and practice is in progress or has not been cancelled, please make a decision on if your child will attend practice based on what is safest for your own family. If severe weather strikes while practice is in progress, students will be held inside and supervised by Summit Pool Staff until it safe to exit the building. If tornado sirens go off, students will retreat to the locker rooms, away from any doors and windows until is is safe to resume swimming activities. JCSD does not cancel pool activities for lightning.   

Cancellation notfication will be sent to the team via email and the Band app. Families have the right to stay home if they do not feel safe traveling for a practice or swim meet due to severe weather. Most swim meet competitions will not be cancelled unless the building is deemed unsafe.
