WELCOME/CLUB HISTORY

Welcome to South East Aquatics.  South East Aquatics began as Pella Swim Club and was formed in December 2010.  It is associated with USA Swimming and Iowa Swimming Inc.  The community of Pella has a 30 year history of providing competitive swimming opportunities to the youth athletes in our area, originally through a satellite program associated with the YMCA and now through USA Swimming.  In 2010 the YMCA chose to end the satellite swim team program, leaving athletes living in areas not served by a local YMCA without a network of highly competitive teams with which to compete. To fill this void, a group of Pella parents came together to apply for a charter with USA Swimming, the National Governing Body for the sport of swimming in the United States. The talented athletes that make-up the US Olympic Swim Team are identified and nurtured through this organization!  In February 2011 Pella Swim Club was approved as a USA Swimming Charter Club and in May 2011 Pella Swim Club became an approved 501(c)3 non-profit.  As our club grew, so did our participation from surrounding communities.  This led to Pella Swim Club changing its name in 2016 to South East Aquatics (SEA) in order to better represent our athletes.

In 2020, South East Aquatics partnered with the City of Pella to offer recreational level practice groups, as well as club practice groups.  SEA is now able to offer a competitive swimming for swimmers just beginning their careers to those getting ready for college swimming.  We offer a variety of levels to best serve the needs of your swimmer. To see practice group levels, please click here. South East Aquatics does not offer a “learn to swim program” at this time.  The club encourages individuals wanting to learn to swim to take lessons from their local aquatic center.  Athletes are encouraged to attend as many of the official club meets as they can but are not required to do so by the club.

SEA serves athletes from many communities, including Pella, Knoxville, Newton, Oskaloosa, Pleasantville, and Grinnell.  We look forward to continued growth and creating more opportunities for competitive swimmers in Pella and its surrounding communities.
