2022 Short Course Senior Zones

Moses Lake Manta Rays

2022 Western Zone Short Course Championship is a wrap, and now they play. MRA had 11 swimmers qualify for Senior Zones this year, a Manta Ray record! 8 of them traveled to St. George, Utah this week to compete in the Short Course version of this event. It's a good thing that records are meant to be broken, because MRA swimmers just busted up a bunch of them. Laurel Knox, Julia Heaps, Nicholas Moore, Makhaela Parrish, Kathryn Duvall, Issabelle Parrish, Ashton McKean, and Isaac Patten represented the Manta Rays. The 200 Medley relay team of Julia, Kathryn, Makhaela, and Issabelle set a new MRA team record and finished in 22nd place after being seeded 34th going into the meet. The 200 freestyle relay of Issabelle, Kathryn, Makhaela, and Laurel broke the team record and moved up to 11th place from the seed position of 23rd. Laurel, Issabelle and Makhaela swam the 50, 100, 200, and 500, freestyle events. Laurel and Makhaela also competed in the 1650 freesyle event, with Makhaela setting a new MRA team record. Issabelle made finals and set new MRA records in all of her individual events. She also achieved a couple of Futures time standards. Kathryn competed in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle events. Julia competed in the 100 Backstroke and freestyle events. Isaac and Ashton competed in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. Nicholas competed in the 200 and 500 freestyle events. All of the swimmers are now participating in the most important part of the trip, going to the Fun Center to play.
