2022 IES Junior Olympics

Last weekend, Manta Ray Aquatics Swim Team had over 15 swimmers travel to the University of Idaho to compete in the Inland Empire’s Junior Olympics Swim Meet.  This meet invites swimmers from Idaho, Oregon, and Washington to compete for the top spot in a multitude of swim events.  Some of the team’s top qualifiers are as follows:

Bria Bodenman finished in 6th place in her 1650, the longest swim event offered.  Edi Cristoloveanu finished in the top spot in his 50 and 100 breaststroke and 3rd place in both the 50 and 200 freestyle. Brother Luca took 3rd place in his 200 I.M., 50 free, and 100 butterfly and 2nd in the 50 and 100 breaststroke.  Many of his times also qualified him for the WA State Age Group Championship meet in Federal Way later this month.  Kathryn DuVall raced to a 2nd place finish in her 100 breaststroke, 5th place in the 200 freestyle, and 3rd in her 100 freestyle.  Kathryn also added qualifying times in 3 more events to swim at the Short Course Western Zones meet in St. George, Utah at the end of March. She also set a new Manta Ray team record in the 50 breaststroke. Laurel Knox, a fellow Zones meet swimmer, took 7th place in the 200 freestyle and 4th in the 1650.  Adylinn Leslie, in her first Junior Olympics meet, finished in 6th place in her 50 freestyle, cutting almost a second off her time.  Dylan Moore cut over 4 seconds in his 100 breaststroke and over 10 seconds in his 200 breaststroke to finish in 6th place in both events.  Brother Nick cut over 2 minutes off his 1650 time to finish in 5th place.  Nick will also be competing at the Zones meet in Utah.  Damien Paluch finished in 7th place in the 1650. Issabelle Parrish took the top spot in both the 50 and 200 freestyle with season best times and a new Manta Ray record in the 200.   She also cut over 15 seconds off her 500 freestyle to finish in 2nd place.  Makhaela Parrish took third place in the 200 and 1650 freestyle.  She and sister Issabelle will be a part of the Zones team in Utah.  Marcus Quezada had time improvements in all of his events and also made qualifying times for the WA state Age Group Championship meet in everything he swam.  He finished in 4th place in the 50 backstroke, 100 freestyle, and 50 butterfly,  5th place in the 50 free, 3rd in both the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle, and 2nd in the 100 butterfly.  Manta Ray Aquatics will be taking 8 swimmers to the Western Zones Meet in Utah at the end of March, the most swimmers the team has qualified in decades.
