Coaching Staff
Ian Carpenter Owner/Head Coach

Ian grew up swimming in the Pacific Northwest starting with West Coast Aquatics then transitioning to Gold’s Aquatics Club before for his last few years of high school. After graduating, Ian attended South Western Oregon Community College where he swam his freshman year before needing to withdraw from swimming due to an injury prior to college that interfered with competitive swim.Once returning to Washington in early 2016, Ian attended University of Washington while simultaneously becoming an assistant coaching for Golds where he helped with all groups from senior swimmers preparing for college to age groupers just starting their swimming journey.

Now, Ian calls Spokane, WA home and couldn't be more thrilled to bring his swimming experiences and enthusiasm to the Spokane Sea Serpents community. He's all about making a splash, inspiring athletes and families alike to dive into the world of swimming and enjoy every moment of the journey.

Isabel Fetty Assistant Coach

Isabel grew up in Seattle, WA where she swam for about 10 years.  She continued her swimming career at Whitworth University where her primary events were the 200 fly, 1650 free, and 500 free.  She graduated with a BS in Health Science and minors in Spanish and Psychology. Isabel has coached swimming to all ages of individuals and is very excited to be a part of the Serpent community.

Scott Cooley Assistant Coach

Scott Cooley has been teaching in the classroom since 1999, with a wide range of swimming and coaching experience to add to his resume.

Scott swam for Glendale AZ Gauchos club through his high school years. Was a state placer for 4A for Sophomore through senior years in a number of events for the high school team. When he began teaching, he coached the JV high school swim team at Ironwood high school in 1999. In 2000 and 2001 he coached both the Varsity and JV teams at Sunrise Mountain High school (all in AZ). After moving to Spokane, he was the assistant cross country coach from 2005 to 2011 at University High School.  From 2017 to 2021 he was the cyclocross coach for beginners for the School of Cross bike team. 

He enjoys cheering students and athletes towards a goal, and SSS is lucky to have him (and his 3 boys) involved in our daily practices and team feel.

Casidy Smith Assistant Coach
 
Coach Casidy has been swimming for 8 years. Her passion for swimming really grew after attending a competitive swim camp at West Point Military Academy. Since then, she has been swimming with her Spokane team, sharing her knowledge, and encouraging younger team members. Casidy is currently a Senior at Gonzaga Preparatory School, with goals to attend college to earn her degree in secondary education.
