Erika Miller, together with her family, moved to Walla Walla from Whidbey Island, WA in June, 2016.  In September 2018, Erika was hired as the Head Coach for Walla Walla Swim Club

After high school in Oregon, Erika moved to England where she completed her under-graduate degrees in 1994.   A soccer player, Erika turned from recreational swimming to swimming for sport, after a serious injury caused her to give up soccer.  She soon fell in love with distance and open water swimming, and competed for several years as a master swimmer.

Erika began her USA swim coaching career in Oak Harbor, Washington in 2002-2007 as the assistant swim coach for North Whidbey Aquatic Club.    From 2004-2011 she served as Head Swim Coach for Oak Harbor High School  women’s and men’s  swim/dive teams.   In 2012, Erika was asked to take the Head Coaching position for the Burlington, Sedro-Wooley high school teams as an interim.

With her daughter a competitive swimmer, Erika volunteered from 2013-2017 on deck as a USA Swim Stroke and Turn Official, while working full-time in education, before going back to coaching the sport.

Erika believes that swimming is more than just a "sport".   She believes it is a life skill, a gateway to a career, or a summer job for teens and adults, in addition to teaching valuable life and leadership skills and lessons.  She hopes to help WWSC swimmers grow as athletes and individuals who are stronger physically, mentally, and who are able to make a positive difference in their lives and their community.

Hello everyone! I’m super excited to be a part of the Walla Walla swim club. I started competitive swimming when I was 7 years old on my neighborhood summer league team in Renton WA. In my time before college, I played lots of sports but fell in love with soccer and swimming. I played both sports until I graduated high school and chose to continue my swimming career at Whitman College.

As a swimmer at Whitman I excelled in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 back. At the conference championships in 2024 I was named Northwest Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Year, getting 1st place in the 50 and 100 free and 2nd place in the 100 back, along with some top finishes on all 4 relays I was on. I also became a captain for two years and worked closely with my teammates to create a fun and hard working environment.

I have spent many years teaching swim lessons and coaching, and I really enjoy spreading my love of swimming. Helping younger swimmers have fun while working towards their goals is super important to me. I can’t wait to see you on deck!
