It was an exciting weekend to be a member within the governing body of Illinois Swimming this weekend. Lots of new changes coming to the way championship meets are run and how our 14&under swimmers qualify. We are adopting and modifying some of the practices by our neighbors in Indiana and Wisconsin. All of these changes are excellent for keeping our kids in the water and motivated to keep working as hard as possible with every workout. This is hopefully going to be the longest email I ever send out...
JUST IN: the warmup assignments and "session" report is posted on the event page. The team isn't first warm up but make sure to be there at least 30 mintues before positive check in closes! We have been asked to provide timers for one lane: 2 timers per lane. I have set the volunteer signup on the event page as well for shifts of about an hour. Signup is FINALLY open for the Algonquin Trails Invite! Make sure to read through the meet packet: 8&Under and 13&over age groups are in the morning, 9-10 and 11-12 age groups are in the afternoon. I do expect to be asked for volunteer timers. Look for that email during the weekend!
A few updates to get out: The meet info for St Charles (this weekend) has been posted containing the warm-up assignments, psych sheet, and estimated timeline for each session. Our entries for the UIC meet (next weekend) were not accepted. The meet filled almost instantly and I take complete responsibility for the delay in getting this information out in a timely manner. I am reopening the COHO meet signup. I have recieved several emails about missing the deadline. Please double check your sessions and signup if you missed this! I will be closing the meet around 10PM after I get home from practice! -Coach Alec
