Homewood Flossmoor Swim Club (HFSC) Mission Statement

Homewood Flossmoor Swim Club is a not-for-profit organization administered by a parent Board of Directors. Founded in 1981 by a small group of families, our mission is to provide our community with a safe environment to entrust their children to the introduction of swimming both on the individual and competitive level.

Being on a swim team is an opportunity to reach fulfilment and growth at many levels:  mentally, physically, and spiritually.  HFSC was formed and has been dedicated to providing swimmers of all abilities this opportunity. Because most young people have varying levels of commitment to the sport, our team encourages any swimmer who enjoys the sport to participate in our program.

HFSC has a place for all swimmers, beginners to National Champions!  We want the swimmer to find their place with us.

Philosophy

Competitive swimming teaches many things:

·    a level of responsibility, self-discipline, persistence and perseverance.

·    personal maturity

·    good sportsmanship, personal pride along with team spirit

Our club helps each swimmer find and refine these characteristics for themselves.

As a Not-For-Profit Organization, run by our families, Parental involvement and support are essential ingredients in the HFSC program. The program is run entirely by volunteers, and the participation of willing and engaged parents within the HFSC family is a critical factor in the operation of the team. The young people in the pool are the reason we're here, but the volunteer activities of our parents make things work.  HFSC wants our Parents, like our swimmers to find their place with us.

Participation in our program comes with the commitment of our Coaches, Swimmers, and Parents to understand, practice and follow at all times Safe Sport Guidelines.  Together, an abuse-free, safe, healthy, and positive environment can be insured for all involved.
