Zane Bousum Lead Coach, Emerging

Zane Bousum started coaching at BBSC for the 2016-2017 season. Zane started swimming at the age of 8 for Kokomo Aquatics Team (KAT) in Kokomo, IN and competed all through middle school and high school at Lewis Cass High School. Zane graduated from Marian College in Indianapolis with a Mathematics degree while competing on the cross country team for 4 years. He was the captain of the team for 3 years. After graduation, Zane taught Math at Pike High School for 5 years. While at Pike, Zane coached as an assistant on the middle school team one year (04-05), and assistant on the boy’s and girl’s teams for 3 years (05-06, 07-08, 08-09), and the head boy’s coach for one year (06-07). During this time, he also assisted with the Pike Red Devils Aquatic Team. Zane currently pastors Spirit of Life Church with his wife Rachel. They have three children: Josiah age 10, Audrey age 7, and Michaela age 3. Josiah is a current member of BBSC.

Michael Young Assistant Coach, Emerging

Michael Young is joining BBSC coaching staff for the 2013-14 winter season as a part time assistant, primarily for the Bulldog Prep group.  As a parent of one of the swimmers and a former collegiate swimmer and high school coach himself, Michael is hoping to add to the coaching staff and help BBSC grow strong. Michael began swimming at age nine with his local summer and recreation teams in Bremen Indiana.  As he grew Michael joined the Michiana Marlins Swim Club and at Bremen High School he became the school's second ever IHSAA State Qualifier.  After high school Michael swam collegiately at Butler where he was a conference finalist.   Michael graduated Butler University in 1999 with a degree in Finance. After finishing college swimming, Michael coached one year as an assistant at Zionsville Swim Club and worked with beginning swimmers.  Michael then joined the Brownsburg High School coaching staff and spent one year as Boys' & Girls' assistant coach and then one year (2001-02) as Boys' Head Coach.  During that time Michael also coached the Senior group at Swim Indy (precursor to BBSC). Michael left the coaching ranks in 2002 to pursue advancement in business by attending full time graduate business degree work at Duke University in Durham North Carolina  With a degree in 2005, Michael and family moved back to Indiana and located in Brownsburg in 2006. Michael and his wife Angela currently attend Zionsville Presbyterian Church and have three children; Connor age 8, Mallory age 6, and Byron age 2. 

Matthew Elliott Head Coach

Matt joined Brownsburg Swim Club in April of 2016. Matt has been a lifelong swimmer and has competed at every level. Matt grew up in Peoria, IL and was a 7-time Illinois high school state champion for Peoria Richwoods High School. Matt then when on to compete for the University of Florida where he was an 11-time NCAA All-American and was a Southeastern Conference champion in the 200 breaststroke. Matt was also an Olympic Trials finalist in 2012 in the 200 breaststroke. Matt left competitive swimming in 2015 and begain coaching with Dragon Aquatics and Pekin Community High School in Pekin, IL. There Matt coached one high school state qualifier and several other age group state qualifiers.

Michael Hanlon Lead Coach, Futures

Mike Hanlon has lived and worked in Brownsburg for over 30 years and has been coaching with Brownsburg Swim Club for over 15 years.

Within the club, he is the Lead coach for the Development portion of the Brownsburg Swim Club, serves as the Head Coach for the Bronze Group and is the team's Business Manager.

As a coach, Mike was honored to receive the Hendricks County, 2015 Coach of the Year award. Previously, Mike was a four-year head coach of the McKinley Terrace Sharks in South Bend, Indiana, where he led his club to a conference championship in 1983.

As a swimmer, Mike finished 8th in the state of Indiana in the 50 Breaststroke and was a collegiate swimmer four-time letterman while at Lake Forest College, in Lake Forest, Illinois. In 1988, while at Lake Forest, he was the Midwest Conference champion in the 200 Breaststroke.
