AquaHawk Family - 

To say last week was full of learning is an understatement. Just like we talk with our athletes about taking on challenges and learning from them, everyone involved with this repair project was pushed to think outside the box to get things done in the short time we allotted. A special thanks goes to our facilities department and the fire department for their tireless efforts to get things done. 

Where are we at now? Repairs were completed Wednesday night and our new drain covers are now installed. The pool itself finished filling and restarted filtering at lunchtime on Friday. It was the longest 21 hours I’ve spent inside the facility in my time here at Decatur, but we were able to meet our timeline in filling. When we finished the fill, the water temperature was a balmy 65 degrees. 

Upon returning from my conference this evening, the water temperature is 73 degrees. At this juncture, we want to see the temperature continue to climb over the next couple of days before we resume practices. Based on projecting temperatures, here is what this week’s schedule will be for the facility, based on reopening on Wednesday evening 10/12. 

At this time, I am projecting that we will return to our normal operating temperature by the end of the week. For our athletes, they will need to know that the pool will be cooler than normal! For our lesson families, we will finish up our series of lessons NEXT WEEK and go on Tuesday 10/18, Wednesday 10/19, and Thursday 10/20 from 6:15-6:45pm. 

I plan on updating and republishing our October schedule tomorrow night and will email that out to you. For our White families, I will finally get your registration email to you tomorrow afternoon. My apologies for the delays in getting this and other responses out to families, this project has taken a lot out of me across the board.
