Jess Preston

Head Coach / Senior

Coach Jess Preston is recognized as one of Indiana’s most accomplished swimming coaches. He joined the Noblesville community in August 2024 to lead both the Noblesville Swim Club and the boys and girls programs at Noblesville High School in Noblesville, Indiana.

Prior to Noblesville, Coach Preston spent 16 years at Penn High School in Mishawaka, Indiana, where he served as head coach for both the boys and girls swimming & diving teams. Under his leadership, the Kingsmen earned 18 top-10 state finishes, including six top-5 placements and three state runner-up titles. His teams also posted remarkable dual meet records: 204-11-1 for the girls and 194-22 for the boys. He guided his athletes to a combined 29 Northern Indiana Conference titles, 26 sectional championships, and 15 IHSAA individual event state championships. His excellence has been recognized with 13 Conference Coach of the Year honors and twice as the IHSAA State Coach of the Year. In 2024, Coach Preston and Penn achieved state runner-up finishes in both the boys and girls IHSAA State Championships.

In club swimming, Coach Preston brings a deep background in USA Swimming. He began with PRO Swimming in 1999, serving as Head Senior and Assistant Age Group Coach until 2020, when PRO merged with Irish Aquatics. During his club coaching career, he helped develop multiple age group state champions and record-holders. At Irish Aquatics, he led the team to the 2021 Indiana Swimming Long Course Senior State Championship and coached several athletes to state titles and U.S. Olympic Trials qualification.

Coach Preston is a proud alum of Elkhart Central High School, where he competed in both swimming and baseball, breaking school records in the 500 freestyle and 400 free relay. He continued his swimming career at Ball State University, where he was a four-year letter winner, a consistent MAC Championship scorer, and team captain his senior year.

He is passionate about the Noblesville Swim Club’s mission of “building champions through our community values,” using the sport as a vehicle to instill leadership, discipline, and ownership in young athletes—skills that extend far beyond the pool.

Coach Preston and his wife, Jana, are proud parents of two daughters who both swim competitively for the Noblesville Swim Club.
