2025 Meet #2: Courtside Stingrays @ South Irvine Dolphins
Meet Report: Meet # 2 – South Irvine Dolphins vs. Courtside Stingrays
Date: June 28th, 2025
By: Nate Williams, Co-President
On Saturday, June 28th, the South Irvine Dolphins returned to action at their home pool to host a fever of Stingrays migrating from the Courtside community. This wasn’t just any dual meet. It was a demonstration of the speed and agility of two of the ocean’s most fascinating creatures! The Stingrays, who can glide like birds underwater, were not to be taken lightly. We Dolphins, known for our sleek bodies and playful demeanor have always been crowd favorites. The meet began right as the sun peeked through the stubborn marine layer, and a buzz of excitement permeated through the pool deck. This pod of Dolphins stepped up to the challenge, stayed together, and showed respect toward their opponents. The Dolphin way is one not only of achievement, but also of sportsmanship!
A few of the highlights from the meet:
- Oliviia Efimenko became a Dolphin legend by breaking the Girls 13-14 50 Back Team Record with a time of 29.43s! The previous record was 29.80s. Congratulations, Oliviia!
- Bryce Alpert, Brayden Chow, Katherine Chow, Callahan Espiritu, Cassius Espiritu, Levi Kahn, Milan Kaprealian, Mila Moaven, Julian Salazar, Kate Wallin, and Thomas Wen dropped time in every individual event they swam! Way to stack those Dolphin Dollars!
- Massive time improvements were recorded by several Dolphins. Most notably, Lachlan Henderson, who improved his time by nearly 14 seconds in the 5-6 25 Back! Way to go, Lachlan!
- The Mixed 7-8 100 Free Relay comprised of Bryce Alpert, Ari Mobasseri, Summer Williams, and Noah Mobasseri broke the Team Record with a time of 1:03.97. The previous record was 1:04.15. Amazing teamwork!
The success of this pod of Dolphins was possible through all of the improvements made by each individual swimmer. Our hard work at practice is most certainly paying off!
Congratulations to all the swimmers who dropped time. Each time improvement earns a Dolphin Dollar to be spent at the Dolphins Store. With all the time improvements, there will certainly be a lot of new Dolphin Dollars in circulation!
