​Who are the Marlins?

• Rockford Marlins has been in operation since 1963
• From swimmers just beginning, to those more advanced, we offer training and practice groups for all ages and ability levels. Our training is geared toward challenging each individual and developing him or her to the best of their abilities
• All practices are held at the Belvidere Family YMCA – 220 W Locust St – Belvidere, IL
• All Marlin’s members receive 20% discount on Belvidere YMCA Memberships – Contact Belvidere YMCA to start discount
• Swim Meets typically 2x per month (optional)
• Swim Fees charged monthly – fee is group specific - able to suspend at any time by notifying team treasurer by the 15^th of the month
• USA Swimming/Marlins Registration annual fee of $137 ($50 for Marlins - $87 for USA Swimming)
• All swimmers who practice with the Marlins must be registered with USA Swimming for insurance liability
• Coaching staff has 50+ years combined experience
• Families are required to volunteer at Rockford Marlins Fundraising Events – 20 hours per year
• Coaches will assign the swimmer to the appropriate training group based on age and experience
• For families with multiple swimmers, the Marlins offers a progressive multi-swimmer discount
• Swimmers who do not meet the above requirement are encouraged to work directly with the Belvidere YMCA to develop the skills needed to participate effectively with the Marlins.
