A Group for Every Level and Every Interest

Lexington Dolphins Swim Team offers four levels of professional instruction and training to provide a quality competitive swim program for swimmers of all ages, abilities, and levels of interest.

LEXD's attendance policy remains consistent throughout each group - practice as often as your schedule allows. We understand that schedules can be busy and our coach staff are firm believers of "You get what you put in." We are invested in the fully committed swimmers just as much as we are here for the swimmers that are involved in multiple activities. We encourage well rounded athletes with an emphasis and mixture of time management and commitment.

Development  Developmental stroke training with a focus on stroke introduction and stroke mechanics. Proficient at both Freestyle and Backstroke and eventually Breaststroke and Butterfly.  Ideal for children eight years and younger and new to year round swimming. Three one hour practices per week, or Three half hour practices per week.

Technique – Focus remains on proper stroke development and maintenance, with slight emphasis on training. 4 practices offered per week. Aimed towards 8-11 year olds, this group learns the ins and outs of each stroke as well as introduction to racing strategy. This group includes swimmers that are involved in multiple activities and sports.

Challenge - Fundamentally proficient in all four strokes.  Prepares swimmers for the training expected of them in the Performance group.  Emphasis on stroke maintenance, increased training intensity, and increased practice attendance. 6 practices offered per week.  Ages range anywhere from 11-15.

Performance - Highest level of practices that LEXD offers. This group includes N ational caliber swimmers as well as swimmers that are competitive within the state of Kentucky.  With up to 7 practices offered per week (mornings and afternoons), these swimmers are expected to have a strong commitment and attend as many practices as possible.  Goals include high level qualifying cuts as well as swimming at the next level in college.
