Swim meets are an important part of your swimmer's swim team experience! Coming prepared and knowing what to expect can make your meet run so much smoother and will help your swimmer, your coaches, and all of the families have the best time possible!

What is a swim meet?

Swim meets are swimming competitions. They are the best time for your swimmer to put their skills to work and show off how hard they've been working in practice each week!

How often do we have swim meets?

The meet schedule is released at the beginning of each season- this season's schedule can be found HERE. While you do not have to attend every swim meet, the coaches recommend attending as many as possible.

What's the difference between a Dual/Tri-Meet and an Invitational?

Dual/Tri-meets are meets between RYD and one or two other teams; Invitationals are meets that are open to a large group of teams (usually 10+). Dual/Tri-meets are included in your swim team fees, so no other cost is incurred when attending. Invitationals incur an extra cost per event and are billed to the card on file after you sign up for the meet.

Do I pick my swimmer's events?

When you sign your swimmer up for dual/tri-meets, you will simply commit your swimmer to the meet and your swimmer's coach will pick their events. When you sign your swimmer up for an invitational, you have the option of picking individual events for your swimmer or letting the coach pick the events for your swimmer, and the coaches will place your swimmer in relay events.

How do I sign my swimmer up for swim meets?

Under the "events" tab on the website, click "Edit Commitment" for each swim meet you'd like to sign your swimmer up for. Follow the directions on the page.

What should I bring with me?

Swim meets are long! Pack lots of healthy snacks for your swimmer and extra water (please, no energy drinks or pop!). Include an extra towel for them to sit on, an extra set of warm clothes to wear on the deck, and an extra pair of goggles and cap. There is often downtime between events, so pack something for your swimmer to do (cards, tablets, etc.). When in doubt, bring an extra of everything!

For spectators, we recommend checking with the coaches to see if there will be seating on deck. If not, camp chairs for spectators are recommended!

Can I follow along with the results?

Yes! The coaches use MeetMobile, a paid app ($10/year) to keep track of meet results.
