Sectional Cuts Galore, Marlins Advance to Finals

Columbus, Ohio, March 3.  At the Ohio Swimming Tim Meyer Senior Championships the Marlins welcomed a few more teammates to prelims this morning, and the great times just kept coming. The Marlins continue to swim well and advance swimmers into the Finals, taking on some of the college talent who is in attendance.

Getting the morning off on the right foot was Gabe Rapp in the 200 Fly.  Dropping four seconds off his best time to come within two seconds of his first Junior National cut, Gabe leads the charge into finals pacing prelims in 3rdplace.

Continuing the momentum, Lindsey Niehaus paced the 100 free in a new Sectional cut.  Her prelim time had shaved two seconds off of her entry time (however she had been faster during the High School Season).  Lindsey is seeded 22ndfor tonights finals where she is looking to drop her time even more.

Kirsten Mosko leads the charge for the Marlins in the 400 IM in her first of two finals swims.  Kirsten dropped nearly three seconds off of her entry time to move up to 20thplace in tonights final.  Swimming in an outside lane she is in prime position to move up and score some big points for the team.

The 200 breaststroke was the best event as a team the Marlins have had so far this weekend.  Leading the way is Rachael Hester who is seeded 7thgoing into tonights final.  In the Consolation Final Kirsten Mosko and Allison Wade (off of a three second drop) will be picking up more points for the Marlins.  Swimming the bonus final, Dana Zerbini (off of a five second time drop) will be looking to get her first Sectional cut in the 200 breast.

The Men were just as impressive in the 200 breaststroke this morning.  Leading the charge is Will Imbus.  Hot off his first Sectional cut yesterday, Will paced the race perfectly and achieved his second cut to put him 15thfor tonights final.  In a time trial of the 200 Breaststroke this afternoon, Kevin Mosko, took the race out hard and never looked back.  He touched the wall in a 2:10.01, a time that surpassed the Sectional standard by almost 5 seconds and would have seeded him 7thfor tonights finals.

Rounding out the morning, Rachael Hester, swimming her very first 1000 Freestyle (in the very last heat) took it out at almost her best 500 time and kept the pressure on.  Her final time of 10:33.08 was under the Sectional cut by 11 seconds and has her placed first with the top heat yet to swim.

Great swimming Marlins!
