2023 YMCA Long Course Nationals Night 5 Recap
Starting us off strong in the 1650 free, Morgan Harlan dropped 28.35 seconds, moving from 19th seed to 8th overall with a time of 17:58.39. She was followed by equally amazing swims from the UDT (UMLY distance team) of Natalie Krauss and Molly Foltz, who swam huge best times of 18:06.21 and 18:13.95 to place 13th and 14th!
In the 200 IM, Devyn Sargent dropped 1.61 seconds to place 5th with a time of 2:21.40. Paige Fisher was .92 faster than this morning, placing 15th with a time of 2:27.35. She was followed by Jena Nowoswiat who swam a 1.40 PB of 2:27.04 to win the C final and place 17th. Sarah Fox and Grace Curtis both went faster than their prelims swims placing 23rd and 29th with times of 2:28.52 and 2:30.88, respectively. Tommy Moul dropped .83 seconds, swimming a time of 2:11.95 to place 7th.
In the 50 free, Alexa Fulton placed 2nd with a time of 25.69, officially qualifying her for 2024 Olympic trials! Lily Robinson tied her best time of 26.94 to place 8th. Keira Haas dropped a total of .72 seconds, placing 16th with a 27.42. Mason Green and Liam Haas also went PBs with times of 23.76 and 24.64 seconds to place 6th and 26th, respectively. Connor Kirby was .06 seconds faster than the morning, placing 31st with a time of 25.12 seconds.
Closing out the meet in the 400 free relay, the girls swam a time of 3:55.34 to place 4th and the boys were 8th with a time of 3:35.38!!
Congratulations to the UMLY Girls who placed 3rd overall and to the UMLY Boys who placed 9th overall! UMLY also took 4th place overall with a combined team score! What an amazing make an end to the season. Congratulations to all!!!
