Coaches and Directors
I started swimming at 6 years old and never looked back. Growing up I swam WISC at Ann Arbor Country Club and SMSL with DCAC. Through high school I swam at Dexter along with Club Wolverine. By the end of high school my blood was part chlorine. I grew up in the water and on a pool deck. Some of my fondest memories are from age group swimming. After high school I was given the incredible opportunity to swim at the University of Missouri under a phenomenal group of coached and along with incredible teammates.
After 7 years in mortgage lending, I needed something more. I could not be more excited to be back on a pool deck and sharing the lessons I have learned over my swimming career. Swimming has been and will always be my one true passion.
My name is Deborah Snyder. You guys have probably seen me around Chelsea a lot with my 3 kids and all of their activities! I grew up here in Chelsea for most of my childhood and graduated from Chelsea High School. I swam competitively for 10 years including 4 years on the varsity swim team at CHS. I coached for CAC my senior year and also worked a summer at Club Wolverine back when they were a brand-new club. I have a BS in Biochemistry that I earned from Brigham Young University. After working a few years in a research laboratory, I “retired” to be a stay-at-home mom. Last summer I emerged from retirement to come back and coach for CAC. I love swimming and I have a great time working with our CAC swimmers!
I have always loved the water. I was 10 when I learned how to swim after watching adults swimming laps at the local pool and copying what they did all summer. In high school, I competed in Swimming, Synchronized Swimming, and Water Polo for four years. I was also a lifeguard for four years and a WSI certified swim instructor for three years at the pool where I learned to swim. In college, I studied Physical Education Teaching/Coaching K-12, where I completed an internship as an assistant swim coach. Upon graduating, I taught PE in grades 1-6 for a year before deciding to become a stay-at-home mom. I have three wonderful kids at home but am excited to get back to work after a long break. If I am near a pool or a beach, I am happy. Swimming is my passion, and I am so excited to coach for CAC!
