Coaches and Directors
I have been coacing with Stingrays since the fall of 2015. I am a USA Swimming Shield Certified Bronze Level Head Coach and a USA Swimming Shield Certified ADM (American Development Module) Age Group Coach. I began my coaching career in January of 2014 with the Renville County Aquatic Club.
My coaching philosophy is rooted in more than just performance and winning—it's about nurturing courage, confidence, and character in every athlete. I encourage swimmers to step outside their comfort zones and try new strokes, which helps them develop courage. Celebrating small improvements, whether it’s a faster time or mastering a skill, builds confidence. Fostering teamwork—like cheering on a teammate or taking responsibility during relays—develops character. Helping older athletes develop leadership skills on the team prepares them for life beyond youth sports.
I hope each athlete discovers their own version of success, both in the pool and beyond. It’s my goal to help support them along the way.
I've been coaching with Stingrays since 2023. I am a Shield Certified ADM Age Group Coach. It is my goal to equip and encourage kids to swim as part of a team. I want to teach them how, but also make sure they know competitive swimming is fun! Prior to coaching for the Stingrays, I didn’t have any coaching experience. It was not something I ever thought I would enjoy. I found out just how wrong I was. I absolutely love coaching!
I've been coaching with Stingrays since the fall of 2021. I coached an age group team when I was 17-20 years old. From there I spent a decade working full time at an Olympic-size aquatic center. My focus was on Learn to Swim, Swim Team, Swim Meets, Diving and Adapative Aquatics. I volunteered for the Wounded Warrior project for 9 years, teaching and co-teaching clinics for wheelchair basketball and swimming, as well as coaching Adaptive Swimming under the BLAZE program. Besides the required certifications, I have also taken USA Swimming's Children with Challenges course, which educates aquatics professionals on working with children who have physical, cognitive and/or emotional challenges.
I beleive swimming is for everyone, although everyone's goals will be unique to them. This sport teaches athletes life lessons about hard work, dedication, working with others, and handling both success and failure. Success looks different for each individual. Reaching for goals together, supporting each other and giving our best creates a positive team environment. All are welcome in the pool, regardless of the barriers they have on land.
I started coaching with the Stingrays in the fall of 2023. I also coached a girls volleyball team for 4 years while living in Colorado. I believe the best way to swim is to learn good technique. With proper technique you can be a faster and a more successful swimmer.

I've been coaching with Stingrays since the spring of 2024. However, I first joined this team as a swimmer in 2012. While in high school, I spent three years managing and helping coach the Willmar High School Boys' Junior Varsity swim team.
I believe swimming should be more than just laps in a pool. It should be a space where kids can learn to work hard, challenge themselves and build lasting friendships.
The 2025/26 season will be my first year coaching with Stringrays. However, I started swimming with this club when I was 8 years old. I have over 3 years of experience teaching swimming lessons at the YMCA. Besides the required certifications, I have also taken USA Swimming's Children with Challenges course, which educates aquatics professionals on working with children who have physical, cognitive and/or emotional challenges.
My coaching philosophy is to create a supportive, fun environment where kids can grow both on and off the pool deck. I focus on developing their swimming skills while also fostering personal growth, confidence, character, and a lifelong love for the sport. I strive to teach the value of a healthy lifestyle, encouraging habits that benefit physical, mental, and emotional well-being. I believe swimming is not only an individual sport, but also a team sport — offering athletes the chance to pursue personal goals while contributing to the success and spirit of the team.
