Junior Development Program Developmental/Cudas/Mini Cudas

The Developmental, Cudas, and Mini Cudas swimmers are not physically or mentally prepared as yet to participate as extensively as Senior members of the team.  These practices are shorter, less frequent and less intense, focusing primarily on technique.  Strength training focuses more on general fitness rather than muscle building.  Younger swimmers should first be hooked on the sport of swimming by seeing it as fun and exciting.  Their competitiveness will naturally develop as they progress.

Seniors  Blue/Green

The Senior program continues to focus on technique as its primary objective.  There is an increase in the number of practices and cardiovascular conditioning is added to the workouts.  Swimmers are introduced to strength training and the Life Fitness equipment in the dryland program which is run by the personal trainers here at the Y.  As their competitiveness increases the coaches make sure there is still a balance between a level of seriousness and fun.  Seniors are encouraged to try to obtain State and National times as their goals.

The Seniors are broken into Blue and Green groups. Some of these practices are shared between the groups, while others are separate. Both groups swim challenging workouts and set high goals. Dividing the Seniors into these groups provides for increased suitability of the workout to the athlete. The Green group also has one additional practice per week and requires an increased level of both ability and commitment on the part of its athletes.
