Jonah S Montgomery

Head Coach

 

BIO:  Jonah has been involved in competitive swimming in Queens for over 30 years, starting at age 4 when he set his first record, through today where he is the Metro Swimming Age Group Chair, serving on the Metro Board representing the interest of over 10,000 local swimmers. As an age-group swimmer, Jonah was a top-16 nationally ranked in the breaststroke, won multiple YMCA State championships & YMCA national finalist, in addition to being a USA National Qualifier.

He was captain of his team at Arch Bishop Molloy H.S. where he was a HS All-American, CHSAA champion and Catholic National High School Champion. Despite a devastating knee injury in his senior HS season, Jonah still went on to swim and set breaststroke records at Saint John’s University while becoming a Big East Champion finalist. Jonah has coached all age-groups, developing Metro 8&U Championship winners, Metro Junior Olympic champions, Eastern Zone Champions, YMCA State champions and record setters. 

Jonah refined his coaching abilities at the Westchester Aquatic Club under head coach Carle Fierro, where he was a part of several Metropolitan Records, NAG records, Junior Olympic & Eastern Zone Champions & Record Holders. 

Coach Jonah brings his love of swimming to every practice session, where his goal is to have his swimmers realize their full potential in and out of the pool.

 

 

Kristopher Sweetman

Associate Head Coach

BIO: Kristopher has been a part of competitive swimming for over 16 years. He began his swimming career at the Cross Island YMCA where he set a multitude of records. While a part of the team, he qualified for many competitive meets including YMCA National and Eastern Sectionals.  His love for his team didn't end when he aged out, after his senior year swimming for the team Kristopher went on to coach his old team while attending college. His responsibilities as a young coach consisted of leading practices of the older swimmers as well as preparing dryland and in pool exercises.

After many years of club swimming, Kristopher’s swimming career continued on when he attended Queens College where he received a scholarship for swimming and studied Exercise Science and Nutrition. As a freshman he was named Most Outstanding Freshman throughout the entire athletic program. Throughout his 4 years as a competitive collegiate swimmer Kristopher set 7 school records.

Kristopher has been coaching competitive swimming for over 7 years.  He has been on the coaching staff for great teams such as NCAC & WEST. He has trained many young athletes, from club swimming to collegiate, to compete at challenging levels of competition. He has sent these athletes to YMCA nationals, Junior nationals and many high caliber meets in swimming. He has also coached swimmers who have gone off to attend many Division I Universities.

He has loved swimming from a young age, starting from the moment he took his first lesson. His passion for the sport has never dwindled and only grows with every accomplishment he and any of his swimmers achieved. His dedication to the young athletes that he trains is unbeatable.
