About our Team:
We are a non-profit swim team that operates under USA Swimming and services the greater Tupelo area. We compete at a state, regional, and national level and have success in sending athletes to swim at all levels of NCAA swimming.
Our practice depends on what we determine the swimmers ability to be. We have 5 groups: Developmental, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Senior, and Sectional. Competition is highly encouraged but as of right now not mandatory. Not going to competition would be like going to soccer practice non stop for a year but never competing.
We have 3 sections we think of as far as what group to put someone in: Developmental, Age Group, Senior.
Our Developmental group swims 3 times a week for 45 minutes. These swimmers are learning the basics of competitive swimming.
The Bronze group begins our Age Group swimmers, and they swims 3 times a week for an hour a day. These swimmers have the basics covered but still lack the endurance to progress further into the sport.
The Silver group swims 4 times a week for an hour and a half a day. These swimmers have developed some form of endurance and have become comfortable traveling to meets and hope to qualify for state meet at the end of the season.
Our Gold group swims 5 times a week for an hour and 45 minutes. This is our pinnacle of our Age group swimming. These athletes are too young to be considered for the senior group, but have every right to travel to any meet they’ve qualified for.
The Senior group is Shock Wave's group for experienced middle school / high school aged swimmers. This group is expected to travel and compete at a majority of the meets on schedule, but we understand if school gets in the way.
The Sectional group is Shock Wave's pinnacle group. These athletes are at least in high school and have qualified for regional and national competitions. These athletes are also looking to maybe pursue swimming at the colliegate level. Practice attendance and meet attendance is a must.
