New Updated Montana Swimming Time Standards
Montana Swimming has updated the time standards for 2024-2028.
During the fall HOD meeting, proposals were approved that changed our time standards and the new standards are below.
- USA Swimming Motivational Time Standards – MT Swimming Time Standards: These are the B/BB/A and so on time standards you are used to using.
- However, there is one change. At the fall meeting we accepted using the 13-14 motivational time standards for the 50’s of stroke. The second part of that proposal that was passed said we would automatically adopt the time standards once published by USA Swimming for the 15-16 and 17-18 (our 17-21 age group) for the 50’s of stroke. Those 15-16 and 17-18 50’s of stroke time standards were published on October 10 and are included with the attached motivational time standards and are our new 15-21 50’s of stroke qualifying times. Our MT Swimming 13-21 year old 50’s of stroke time standards are now retired. The new time standards are here.
- The updated 8 and under Short Couse State time standards are attached. 8 and under times are now only used for Short Course State and BC Champs – not for Long Course State. The new 8&U time standards are here.
- The new 10 and under Short Course State time standards are attached. 10&U swimmers must enter 1 event with a B time or faster at SC State and then can enter any other event as a bonus swim with a provable time in SWIMS. To enter a distance event they must have a BB time or faster. Now they do not have to enter with a BB time in one event and then enter with B times in any other events. The new 10&U time standards are here.
- The new Long Course State time standards are attached. The 12 & under swimmers now have no time standards except for distance races. The 13-21 swimmers must enter 1 event with a 13-14 BB time or faster and then can enter any other event with a valid time as a bonus event except distance events require a 13-14 BB time or faster to enter. The new long course state time standards are here.
- All entry times must be provable through SWIMS. Altitude adjusted times will be accepted.
- The entry limits are the same for all the meets.
