Coach Georgia is from Malvern, Iowa. She started swimming when she was 6 years old at her hometown’s summer recreational team. Coach Georgia has always had a strong pull to swimming and being in the water ever since she was born. Her family would say she could find a body of water in an instant. Coach Georgia would play other sports while growing up in her small town, but she really just wanted to swim.
Once she began high school, she was recruited out of her small town to swim a Co-Op with Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She did the Co-Op for her freshman year, and then her family made the decision to transfer Coach Georgia into the Lewis Central School District for her remaining years. She was on the Varsity Girls Swim Team for 4 years. During high school Coach Georgia was also active in choir, theatre and band. Through those years in the summer Coach Georgia than began to help her hometown swim team by being an Assistant Coach, and doing private swim lessons. She specialized in sprint Freestyle and Butterfly.
Coach Georgia graduated in 2016 from Lewis Central, and continued her education at Iowa State University where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, with a Meat Science minor. She swam for 2 years on the University of
Iowa State Club Swim Team. She
also was involved in the Meat Science Club, and was on the 2018
Iowa State University Meat Judging Team.
Coach Georgia lives and works full-time in Fremont with her
boyfriend Simon, and their two dogs, Myla and Mabel.
Georgia has been coaching with FAST since May 2023. She started
working at the pool as a lifeguard, and doing swim lessons in
January 2023. When lifeguarding at swim meets held at the Dillon
Family Aquatic Center, she realized how much she missed coaching
young swimmers and the environment.
Coach Georgia has the ability to coach each swimmer to their strengths, while also improving their techniques by providing individualized recommendations. Coach Georgia takes pride in helping the swimmers to understand specific points by relating it to them, instead of just telling them. She also believes there is so much more to swimming than some might realize, and she really wants each swimmer to gain their own passion for the sport. She truly enjoys seeing each swimmer improve and grow through the sport as she coaches alongside them.
