FAAF interview with Cammile Adams
When did you open SafeSplash?
- We purchased the business in May of 2018 and opened our first dedicated unit (SafeSplash + SwimLabs Katy West) in January of 2021.
How long have you been involved in providing lessons to the community? (Fulshear/Katy and other places?)
- Since May of 2018, although I did teach lessons in high school as well. I've always loved the swim lesson side of our sport.
When did you start swimming lessons?
- I've always been pretty involved and in the water. I love teaching myself and it's something I want to continue to do as long as I can
What local club team were you on?
- I did swim for the Woodlands as an age grouper and then Fleet and Magnolia Aquatics in high school
Why have you stayed involved with world of swimming?
- I love this sport. It gave me and my family so many opportunities! I truly can't imagine my life without this sport. It's been fun for me to stay involved at the ground level. Teaching kids the importance of water safety and growing the life skill of swimming has allowed me to give back in a different avenue than I have before.
What do you like about your job?
- I love watching kids get excited about learning new skills. Learning to swim is so much more than just learning to swim. It builds confidence, teaches social skill etc. It's so fun to watch kids grow and learn new things both in and out of the water.
Why are aquatic programs important to the community?
- Aquatic programs are so important to our communities. With there being so many public pools in Houston, it's so important that water safety is top of mind for everyone. Regardless of age, I really believe that everyone should learn how to swim. It's more than just a sport, it's a life skill.
