
Named Head Swim Coach of MSA in September of 2023, Coach Dave
begins his third year at MSA working with our Advanced Age Group
and Senior Select groups at Tom Short location. Prior
to arriving back in Charlotte he was Head Swim Coach at Louisiana
State University and owned his own 200+ swim club. A
few accomplishments while at LSU
- selected to the country of Estonia coaching staff two times (2008
short course Europeans, 2018 European Championships)
- placed athlete on Junior Pan Pacific team/National Junior Team
(2013)
- helped athletes break/rebreak over 60+ school records
- coached numerous All-American (top 8 at NCAA) and
Honorable Mention All Americans (top 16 at NCAA)
Prior to LSU, Coach Dave and his wife lived in the Charlotte area
where he worked for another club program in town. His
wife Lyndi is the swim school director at the Indian Trail
site. His oldest daughter Maddi (19) is an MSA alum and
currently is a student athlete at Colorado State University and his
youngest daughter Kayda (15) swims at MSA
The 2015 North Carolina Swimming Coach of the Year and four-time U.S. Swimming National Team coach, Sean Quinn was hired by Coach Perers to lead the National Prep group at our Tom Short location.

A native of Lancaster, S.C. Alumnus of Lancaster
High School, and the University of North Carolina.
As a swimmer Sean was a three-time NCAA All-America, two-time ACC
Champion, former UNC school record holder, Voted Team Senior Tri
Captain. Sean also found success on an international level as a
competitor. Before enrolling at Carolina, he swam in the 1999 U.S.
Junior World Championships in Barcelona, freshman year competed in
the Short Course World Championships in Athens, Greece and he
finished fifth in the 200-meter breaststroke at the 2000 U.S.
Olympic Trials. He was offered a slot on the United States Team at
the 2002 Short Course World Championships in Moscow, but most
notably, Quinn won a silver medal in the 200-meter breaststroke at
the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Sean is married to Beth Colacurcio Quinn and has three children,
Alice, Henry and Olivia.

Coach Tom
Fritchen was born and raised in Racine, WI. He started his swimming
career as a Freshman at Washington Park High School where he
was nominated for All Conference Team
and named captain his Senior year.
Attending the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, he continued to
swim for 4 years where he was voted
captain unanimously
by his
fellow teammates his Junior and Senior
years. During his 4 years swimming for UWRF
he received the Most Improved, Most Inspirational, and Falcon
Awards by his teammates and coaches. Tom was also the co-founder
and president of the Water Polo Club of UWRF from
2006-2009 where he specialized as a goal
keeper.
After
swimming with the UWRF Swim Team, starting in the Spring of
2008 he volunteered as
an
assistant coach in which he focused on distance
and stroke technique which turned into
an Assistant
Coach position for the next 4
years. Tom also started coaching at Hudson
Area Swim Association (HASA) in 2009 at the Novice and Age Group
levels, and took on the role as Interim Head Coach when the Head
Coach resigned. During his career, he coached many
Senior and Age Group
Championship, Sectional, and
Zones level swimmers
and multiple
Minnesota State record holders.
Tom started coaching
for the
Mecklenburg
Swim Association when it opened its doors in the Fall of 2012
working with swimmers of every age group from Red to
Senior.
Tom has a Bachelor in Fine Arts with a major studio in Painting and a minor studio in Glass Blowing. Tom lives in Pineville, NC with his wife, Ranndi, and two wild boys, Miles (8) and Archie (2).
Coach Jay joins MSA with over 30 years of competitive swimming experience both as an athlete and coach, beginning his journey in the sport at six years old.
Growing up in a military home Coach Jay swam on many different club teams during his age group years, then attending the Bolles School in Jacksonville FL for high school. While at Bolles Coach Jay was a member of four Florida High School State Championship Teams, a Junior National Championship Team and a USA Swimming National Championship Team. Individually Coach Jay earned four high school All-American honors, a high school state title in the 200 free, multiple Junior National top eight finishes and a top 16 finish at Senior Nationals.
Following four years at Bolles Coach Jay attended the University of South Carolina as a varsity letterman. Then transferred to Florida State University where he was a three year letterman for the Swiminoles earning a top eight finish in the 500 Free at the ACC Championships.
After graduating from FSU Coach Jay continued his passion for the sport with a coaching position at Swim Florida in Naples FL. As Lead Coach of the Naples satellite pool for six years Jay grew the location from 60 athletes to a consistent 130+ year round swimmers. During his time coaching in Florida he worked with all levels of competitive swimming from novice athletes to National Qualifiers.
Prior to joining the MSA staff Jay was the Head Coach of Stingray Aquatics in Matthews NC for seven years. During his tenure he had three NCSA Junior National Qualifiers, 25 Senior Sectional athletes, set 76 New senior team records and was selected to the NC Zone Team Staff in 2012.
Jay resides in Indian Land SC, with his two children Ryan and McKinley. Coach Jay is excited to be back on deck with the opportunity to help the MSA family.
Brooke Carr has been coaching for 14 years, most recently at Team Greenville in South Carolina. Her primary focus was with swimmers 14 and under. Before Team Greenville, Coach Brooke served as a Head Site Coach with Parkway Swim Club in St. Louis, Missouri for six years. During this time she was responsible for the 6-14 year olds from the novice level to the Senior Sectional and Zone levels. She also served as both the Head Zones Coach and the Age Group Chair for the Ozark LSC.
Not only does Coach Brooke have solid age group coaching experience, she has also coached intercollegiately as well. During the 2004-05 season she was the Head Assistant Coach at Butler University and was later named Interim Head Coach for the program. Coach Brooke grew up swimming with the Bolles School Sharks in Jacksonville, Florida. She continued her swimming career through college at Indiana University – Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI) where she majored in Communication. Coach Brooke has been the Age Group Chairman for South Carolina Swimming and has worked many SC Swimming camps and Zones trips.
Outside of coaching she is an avidly devoted Indiana Hoosier basketball and Jacksonville Jaguars football fan. She also enjoys working out, photography, reading, and trying to cook.
Megan was constantly either in the pool or ocean growing up, but was a gymnast instead of a swimmer until age 15. She fell in love with the sport and continued on to swim collegiately at Gardner-Webb University. During the summers, she was a summer league swim coach and lesson instructor. After graduating, Megan was the assistant coach at Limestone College for 3 years and the interim head coach for her 4th year. She then moved to coach at Washington University in St. Louis for 2 years, with a program that has been consistently ranked in the top 10 on the national level. At both universities, she assisted in sending multiple swimmers and relays to compete at NCAA Championships.
She is excited to begin her 6th season here, and credits MSA for her husband, who she met on deck! When she isn’t sharing her passion for swimming with others, Megan enjoys the beach, art, reading, sports, plants, good sushi, and traveling with her husband.

Max moved from Wisconsin where he was born and raised, swam with the Fox Valley Wave from the age of 11 and pursued college swimming at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay from 2017-2022. His coaching career started in the summer of 2020 with the Kansas City Blazers assisting with the age group swimmers. From there he continued to coach in Wisconsin with Ashwaubenon Swim Club from 2021 to the spring of 2022 also helping with age group swimmers before arriving in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Most recently a unique opportunity arose when he started his 5th swim season without a head coach at GB. Max took on the responsibility to write distance and mid-distance practices for the team as well as making meet lineups for the men’s team while also swimming, attending school full-time and coaching with ASC. This really sparked his interest in becoming a full-time swim coach and he is super excited to share his knowledge and passion for the sport with others while also learning along the way.

Coach Jeremy started in 2014 with his hometown team in Northwest Indiana where he doubled the team size and established a Learn-To-Swim and Pre-Team program. He was also an assistant high school coach for 3 years and helped coach a swimmer who qualified for Winter Junior Nationals in the 2019-2020 season.

Coach Jonathan was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Coach Jonathan brings years of experience both as a swimmer and coach to the pool deck. A former competitive swimmer for 8 years in club swimming, and has spent the past 9 years developing athletes of all levels.
During his coaching career in Texas, he had the opportunity to work with swimmers across all age groups and abilities. He was selected to coach at the Texas Select Camp in 2018 and served as the lead coach for the 11-12 boys South Texas team at the Southern Zones Championship in 2019. Since joining MSA, Coach Jonathan has had multiple swimmers qualify for NC States for Age Group and Senior, Sectionals, Futures, and Junior Nationals. He loves being part of the MSA family and is thrilled to see the Sardis location continue to grow.
Coach Jonathan is dedicated to fostering a positive and competitive environment, focusing on technical development, personal growth, and the love of swimming. Whether coaching beginners or seasoned athletes, he strives to help swimmers reach their full potential both in and out of the water.
Mark Dell came to North Carolina as the Assistant Coach for Davidson College 2004-2008. Before joining Davidson he served two years as Assistant Coach at Eastern Michigan University. While at EMU Mark qualified for the 2000 Olympic Trials in the 200 meter Butterfly. Mark currently lives in Highland Creek with his wife (Alaine) and 3 boys (Bryan 15, Walker 10, and Gibson 8) Mark has coach all levels of swimming included summer league, High school, and developmental swim lessons.

Harper has been part of the sport of swimming for over 19 years. She grew up in Colorado swimming for Pikes Peak Athletics, where she competed on their national team as a state champion and state record holder. She also began teaching swim lessons and coaching beginner swimmers, sparking her passion for helping athletes grow in and out of the pool.
She continued her athletic and academic career at the University of Utah as a scholarship Division I athlete, competing in the PAC-12 Conference every year. During her junior year, she was nominated and served as a women’s team captain. After multiple ACL injuries, Harper retired from competition her senior year to focus on gaining coaching experience.
That same year, she began coaching with a club and high school program in Utah, quickly moving from assistant coach to interim head coach. In that role, she coached athletes from 8-and-unders to elite-level seniors, produced the team’s first Junior National qualifier, coached five state champions, and helped the club reach one of its best age group state finishes.
After earning her degrees in Business Administration and Communications, Harper moved to North Carolina and in June 2025 joined MSA. Since then, she has continued to share her love for the sport, helping swimmers of all levels develop as athletes and as individuals.

Laurel is an age group coach at MSA’s Indian Trail location. She joined the team in 2021, soon after graduating from Carson-Newman University. During her four years at college, she swam for the CN swim team, specializing in sprint freestyle and butterfly. At Carson-Newman, Laurel became an NCAA All-American, All-Conference, and team record holder.
Before MSA, Laurel coached for summer league teams in the Charlotte area and taught private swim lessons. When she is not at the pool, Laurel loves staying active and being outdoors. She can also be found reading and creating artwork.
Harrision Gibson, raised in Charlotte, NC, Phoenix, AZ, and Florida, began competitive swimming at 7. He qualified for US Nationals and Olympic Trials while at the University of Florida, where he also served as a student manager and volunteer coach.
With ten years of coaching experience across all USA Swimming levels, Harrison brings a lifetime of varied experience to MSA. He's also the founder of Phlex Swim, a swim-tech startup developing cutting-edge training tools. Harrison believes swimming should be fun while pursuing goals.
His coaching philosophy centers on understanding each swimmer's unique needs and helping them achieve personal goals. Harrison has coached athletes to numerous achievements, including:

- National Age Group Top 10 rankings
- Sectionals, Futures, Junior Nationals, and US Nationals qualifiers
Harrison's experience extends to observing elite swimmers (including NCAA Champions and Olympians) up close as teammates and close friends, informing his coaching approach. With extensive and diverse swimming connections and experiences, he's well-equipped to guide swimmers, whatever their goals within the sport may be, from collegiate swimming to coaching, to starting a business within the sport.
Outside swimming, Harrison enjoys hiking, running, and surfing. He's a sports enthusiast and Star Wars fan, sharing his home with his cat, Leia, named after the character. His sports fandom includes rooting for the Florida Gators, Indianapolis Colts, and the Phoenix Suns.
Harrison is thrilled to join the MSA family, bringing his extensive life experience within the sport and commitment to helping each swimmer reach their full potential in and out of the pool.
Bryce started learning how to swim in his home town of Boca Raton Florida at 6 months old, and had attended his first meet by the age of 4. He went on to qualify for High School states in Florida before continuing on to become an All American at the University of the Cumberlands.
Upon Graduating with a Bachelors in Fitness and Sport Management, he returned to Cumberlands to coach for 2 years as a Graduate assistant and garner his Masters degree in Health and Human Performance. With his masters degree, he went on to coach for 2 years at Iowa Central Community College, one of those years as the Interim Head coach where the team broke over 20 school records and had 3 All American recipients.
Bryce is now entering his 2nd year with MSA, where he hopes to help kids focus on improving technique and fundamentals, while also teaching important life skills they can carry with them throughout all aspects of their lives.
