Age Group Training
SAC GROUP STRUCTURE & EQUIPMENT LIST
Reef Sharks will be our “Pre-Competitive” group
● Continue to learn to relax in the water with much aquatic awareness
● Foundational skills in all 4 strokes
● Having fun creates long term growth in the sport
● 60% attendance is recommended
Equipment needed will be Cap, Goggles, Snorkel, Fins, Kickboard, and water bottle, and a nose
plug for learning to use a snorkel.
HammerHeads will be our “FUNdamentals” group.
● Foundational skills & technique that will carry them through their later years in the sport
● Having fun and learning to race
● Steady and Slow makes for a long term growth in the sport
● 75% attendance is recommended
Equipment needed will be Cap, Goggles, Snorkel, Fins, Pull buoy, Kickboard, and water bottle.
Tiger Sharks will be our “Learn to Practice” group.
● They will start to understand how to implement learned skills and technique into
“practice sets.” This will be useful to increase their skill level at meets as well as for
long-term development in the sport of swimming.
● Swimmers will compete at local, state, and regional levels if qualified.
● Foundational skills & technique
● Character development
● 80% attendance is recommended
Equipment needed will be Cap, Goggles, Snorkel, Fins, Pull buoy, kickboard, a pair of old shoes
that can get wet, jump rope (for dryland with appropriate dryland attire) and water bottle.
Makos will be our “Practice Great Skills” group– Athletes will continue to be taught many
skills & drills to prepare them for the present season and for a possible Senior level group. They
will continue to learn race strategies and the proper skills to compete at any level in the sport.
● Swimmers will learn that outside-the-pool habits & decision-making will have an effect
on meets as much as the day-to-day work they put into practices
● Athletes will compete at the local, state, regional, and potentially national level
● Progression of racing skills & strategy
● Character development and ownership
● 70% attendance is recommended
Equipment needed will be cap, goggles, proper training suit (one piece for females, no tie-backs
& brief for boys), snorkel, fins,paddles, jump rope, pull buoy.
Senior will be our top “Compete to Excel” group– Athletes who will continue to
progress in and out of the water, taking ownership of their practice and racing habits. They will
learn to put it all together for the purpose of excelling in the sport.
● Mastery of racing skills & strategy
● Character ownership & strength development
● Performance prep (nutrition, rest, recovery, psychology)
● 90% attendance is required
Equipment needed will be cap, goggles, proper training suit (one piece for females, no tie-backs
& brief for boys), snorkel, fins, paddles, pull buoy, weighted jump rope, tempo
trainer(swimoutlet.com), kickboard and water bottle.
