    • How it works – we collect gentle used shoes (no tears or holes) from family, friends, neighbors, colleagues etc and send them to Funds4shoes – they reimburse us $0.40/lbs … our goal is 250bags (25 pairs of shoes each bag) which has the potential to earn us $2500.
    • We will have a drop off box on the second floor viewing deck for you to drop off shoes – please label your bag or write you name on a paper and place it in the bag of shoes you are dropping off as we will provide a booster hour for every bag you collect. We will take care of packaging them correctly for the company to pick up, you just need to collect shoes!
    • Each week we will update the tally sheet on the viewing area wall to keep you informed of where we are at with our shoe drive.
    • Each week we will try and put out a social media post on our website for you to share with your contacts and promote more donating

Parent questions:

  1. How have swim lessons been going? Lessons started the last week of July – they did well through summer when they were a weekday model but then attendance started to decline in September due to less popular weekend lessons. Bottom line, we need lessons to keep the club alive-  they are necessary to pay pool rental which was part of the incentive to have the GFPS board open up the Central pool (pool rental fee covers the pool’s monthly maintenance cost). Outside challenges we experienced: a late start to lessons since building was not open in time (anticipated/hoped for a June start but ended up opening late July)
  2. To help keep lessons going, we will start to offer weekday lessons in the new year as those tend to be more popular– one lane between 6-8pm will be for lessons while practices continue

  1. Does our contract with Central run year round or only during school months? Yes, we have a year round contract at Central

  1. Is there a way to advertise at schools for lessons and club swim? The costs is $375 to advertise with the school district; Other options could be to bring flyers to individual school offices to advertise swim lessons as they are a life saving measure; Each parent can maybe reach out at their school level for lessons to make them more successful
  2. Other options to advertise: safe kids, daycares
