TRAINING GROUPS

DevelopmentalThis group is for swimmers of any age who have adequate endurance to fully participate in up to a 60-minute, structured workout. Familiarity (e.g., at least some prior instruction) with freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke is required. The focus of this group will be to develop all four strokes, starts, and turns. Swimmers will learn to use the pace clock with direct instruction. Workouts will prioritize technique, while also building endurance to meet Bronze group standards. During the short course season, the Developmental group will practice only on Saturdays and Sundays. Meets are optional.

Bronze: Dedicated, competitive swimmers who have adequate endurance to fully participate in up to a 60-minute, structured workout.  Bronze group swimmers have legal and well-developed freestyle and backstroke. Legal butterfly, breaststroke, starts, and turns are also required. Swimmers will build increased independence using the pace clock. Workouts will prioritize technique, while also building endurance and development of starts and turns. The weekly practice requirement for the Bronze group is a minimum of three (3), 60-to-90-minute practices. Swimmers in the Bronze group are required to participate in one meet monthly. They are working towards meeting Silver group standards.

Silver: Dedicated, competitive swimmers who can swim each of the four competitive strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle) legally for a minimum of 100 yards. Silver group swimmers must demonstrate a legal 100-yard individual medley. Silver group swimmers should be able to comfortably complete 12x50 freestyle @ 1:00. They have adequate endurance to fully participate in up to a 120-minute, structured workout. Swimmers are refining technique while also building endurance and speed. The weekly practice requirement for the Silver group is a minimum of three (3), 90 to 120-minute practices. Swimmers in the Silver group are required to participate in one meet monthly. They are working towards meeting Gold group standards.

Gold: Dedicated, competitive swimmers with multiple years of swimming experience who have adequate endurance to participate in up to 120-minute workouts. Gold swimmers can swim each of the four competitive strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle) legally for a minimum of 200 yards and can complete the 200 individual medley. Gold group swimmers should be able to comfortably complete 12x50 freestyle @ :45. They are refining stroke, start and turn technique and developing racing strategy. The weekly practice requirement for the Gold group is a minimum of four (4), 90-120 minute practices. Swimmers in this group are required to participate in one (1) meet monthly.
