Coaches and Directors

Adlar has been the head coach of the Arlington High School (2013-2015) and Arlington-Watertown High (2015-2025) girls and boys swim teams. Originally from California, he grew up swimming for San Jose Aquatics (SJA) and Almaden Swim and Racquet (ALMA). One of his favorite swimming memories from that time was "racing" Matt Biondi in the warm up pool at Far Westerns.
He spends his days as the Senior Associate Director of Infrastructure & Operations at the MIT Sloan School of Management. And, you can otherwise find him in Arlington with his wife (Kate) and two children (Aidan and Ethan).

Kristen is the head coach of both the Winchester High School girls and boys swim team and has coached the Sun Valley summer league in Lexington since 2006. She works in special education in the Waltham Public School District. She grew up in Belmont and swam for the Mass Bay Marlins.
Nathan Barton comes to BAT after 5 years at the Boys and Girls Club Watertown. He has worked with swimmers of all ages and takes special pride in working with those with learning disabilities.
Coach Nathan learned how to scuba dive at age 10 and became PADI certified shortly thereafter. Having been on 70+ dives in oceans across the world, it is this fascination with water that led to his love of competitive swimming. Joining the Minuteman High School swim with no formal training, Nathan applied himself and developed into a competitive swimmer and leader on the team—serving as captain of the team during his senior year season.
Coach Nathan loves giving back and celebrating success alongside his swimmers. He believes in the power of the Individual Medley and consistent effort.
He is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Education.
