GROUP DESCRIPTIONS

 

DISCOVERY GROUP: Age Group 1

Embark on the journey of mental and physical discovery of the water and new motor skills in a safe and fun environment.

Age Group 1

Tailored for swimmers with limited background, Age Group 1 offers an introduction to competitive swimming. The program focuses on basic skill instruction, team building games, and physical/motor skill development. Emphasis is on fun, learning the essence of a swim team. Requirements include proficiency in freestyle and backstroke, unassisted 50 yds swim, headfirst dive, and submersions. Practices: 2-3 times per week, with optional meet participation.

IMAGINATION GROUPS: Age Group 2 & 3

Imagination groups encourage swimmers to dream about future success in and out of the pool, using imagery as a crucial learning skill.

Age Group 2

For swimmers with competitive experience, Age Group 2 emphasizes proper stroke mechanics, confidence building, and gradual conditioning development. Dreaming, skill improvement, and enjoyment are central. Requires mandatory swim meet participation. Practices: 4 days per week.

Age Group 3

Designed for those new to USA Swimming, Age Group 3 focuses on stroke technique development. Emphasis on imagination, confidence building, skill enhancement, and enjoyment. Practices: 4 days per week.

RESILIENT GROUPS: Junior 1 and Junior 2

Resilient groups teach swimmers to maintain and build confidence, crucial for mental preparation in performance, requiring commitment and time standards.

Junior 1

Top developmental group with previous United States Swimming experience. Emphasis on stroke mechanics, resilient life skills, conditioning, and race strategies. Discussions cover physiology, nutrition, and psychology. Practices: 5 days per week, with mandatory attendance at the highest-level meet qualified for each season.

Junior 2

Preparatory stage for the senior program, designed for elite age group swimmers. Emphasis on resilient life skills, confidence building, stroke technique, conditioning, dry land skills, and teamwork. Requires commitment to excel. Practices: 5 days per week, with mandatory attendance at the highest-level meet qualified for.

HIGH-PERFORMANCE GROUPS: Senior and Crimson

High-performance groups focus on mental preparation at an elite level, teaching swimmers to use imagery and resilience when it matters the most.

Senior

For swimmers with a strong commitment to swimming. Extensive stroke analysis, dry land exercises, nutritional counseling, and psychological preparation. Goals include skill advancement, mental training, and overall endurance enhancement. High school swimming is allowed, but attendance must not drop below 75%. Practices: 6-9 sessions per week, with mandatory attendance at the highest-level meet qualified for.

Crimson

The highest level for NE Senior, US Junior, and Senior National Swimmers. Pursues excellence in and out of the water with extensive stroke analysis, dry land exercises, nutritional counseling, and psychological preparation. Focuses on high-performance mental preparation and building confidence. Demands full commitment with no interference from other activities. Practices: 7-11 per week, with mandatory attendance at the highest-level meet qualified for.
