Memorable Weekend at Boston University
Chuck and I would like to extend our collective gratitude to all the "non-athlete" supporters of the Bluefish Swim Club. The last few weeks have been a true testament to our dedication to providing amazing opportunities to our athletes. Between Wheaton College trials/finals meet, New England Senior Championships, senior training trip, double practices at home and then hosting this new BU competition, it has been a very busy few weeks without considering the holidays! Our parents, volunteers, officials and board members dedicated themselves to running a high level competition and the results were outstanding. The professionalism, efficiency, and organization for this event was spectacular and created an "electric" atmosphere from session to session.
This level of competition integrity did not go unnoticed by visiting teams, their coaches but more importantly the Boston University facility staff. I received such a glowing report in a phone call from BU facility staff saying they would love for us to host another competition at their facility. What impressed me most was the ability of our meet staff to "roll" with all of the issues and continue to move from event to event with seamless transitions. These are all hallmarks of the amazing team culture we have built and are soo proud to be a part of!
For those of you who weren’t at the competition this weekend at Boston University we had an air compressor crack on the roof of the facility and release several 1,000 of gallons of water into the stands on top of the spectating parents and our concession stand during Saturday morning prelims! We were able to resume prelims in the evening making sure every swimmer got an opportunity to swim. Many people deserve an extra shout out for all of their countless hours of dedication to hosting out great competitions, I apologize if I miss anyone! First and foremost Donna Tamborro as the deck manager she handled the crisis like the professional she is, even throughout the 12 incident reports broken laptop computers, bloody lips, slips and falls, etc. Joe Decotis for managing the U-Haul truck loading and unloading, driving through the maze that is Boston with an extra tall vehicle, all the while Adam his son home sick couldn’t swim at the competition. Donna Chane running her amazing coaches hospitality, managing the new facility restrictions without a blink! Thank you Donna for feeding everyone with such love! Suma Kaveti for managing the concession stand flawlessly, we had to replace nearly everything after the waterfall! Chris Choate for being such a pillar of stability as the referee on Saturday. It’s and honor and privilege to work with all of you and we sincerely celebrate you dedication to Bluefish! Thank You!
Thanks
Christie & Chuck
