***ATLA WEEKLY NEWS BLAST - October 2nd to 8th***

Good morning team,

 

Wow, we are in October already! Time is flying by, our first meet of the season is already upon us this weekend. Details should be sent out tomorrow or Wednesday for those swimming in the meet.

 

PRACTICE CHANGES

  • No changes this week
  • NO PRACTICE NEXT MONDAY OCTOBER 9th!!! PIP closed for Indigenous People's Day.

 

LOST & FOUND/EQUIPMENT SWAP

  • This evening at the PIP we will be having our first seasonal lost & found and equipment swap day.
  • If you have some missing items over the last few weeks please come check out the lost & found.
  • For equipment swap, if you have old fins, paddles, pull buoy, etc that you do not use any more or do not fit (fins especially) please bring them in!
  • You can either donate your equipment for other ATLA swimmers to use or you can swap up your fins for a bigger size (if we have them) and give us the smaller ones for other swimmers. 
  • We will also be bringing some team shirts from previous seasons for purchase if you would like some! Supplies are very limited and we usually have smaller sizes on hand. 
  • Short sleeve shirts are $25, long sleeve shirts are $35.

 

FALL TEAM PARTY - CHANGE!!!

  • We have hit a little snag with our October 28th plans. The YMCA is going to be closed for pool repairs the week of October 23rd to 29th (this will also effect Tues/Thurs practices that week) so we can no longer run our mock meet that weekend.
  • Due to the fact that Haunted Overload would have the team split in half, we are going to choose a different activity so everyone has a chance to do something together.
  • The fall party will now be held at the Coppal House Farm Corn Maze in Lee, NH.
  • The team would like to try and rent a private time for the party, this would give us a 2 hour private maze rental, a private picnic area with tables, private restrooms, parking, and a bonfire area for smores. 
  • If we can get enough people, this would work out to $13 per person. We will see if we can do some snacks or pizza to go along with it.
  • Rental time would be 5-7 PM for October 28th. 
  • If not, we will all go individually and meet up at the maze. This ticket would be $10 max per person.

  • Captains will be sending out RSVP forms by Wednesday!

 

OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER SWIM MEETS

  • Please make sure you are looking ahead to November for meet sign ups. I will be doing those entries in the coming days!
  • The PHX meet in October is looking like it will be a great meet for first timers. 
  • The General Chair of New England Swimming who is also one of the head officials on the NE committee will be running the 12&U meet session as a learning session.
  • This means the meet will run much slower and allow for swimmers to learn all the ins and outs of racing.
  • She will also be on hand to speak to some parents who want to become officials. If you are interested and want a low pressure environment to give it a try and see what it's all about we HIGHLY encoourage you to come to this! New timers as well will want to learn at a meet like this.
  • At this time, we will be inviting ANY swimmer on regular or pre-team to attend this meet. Some of you may only swim on one day based on events just as a head's up!

TEAM SUITS - SWIM MEETS

  • At this time, if you have already purchased a plain black, plain blue/navy, or combination of those colors, we are not requiring that you also buy the team Q suit.

  • I have a list of swimmers who have tried on Q suits. If you need your swimmers size, please reach out to me! 

 

PARENT LIAISONS

  • This week, I will have a list of parent liaisons for those of you needing carpool info, event info, etc. These parents will be a main point of contact for you for questions the coaches may not have the answers to. Please keep an eye out for that information!

 

TEAM MEDIA DAY

  • Sometime in October we are going to be having a team media day. 
  • One of our amazing parents is going to be coming in to take pictures of the team, we will be doing some action shots and head shots of all the swimmers who can make it that day! We are hoping to do this on a Monday since that is usually our highest attendance day. 
  • On registration, all parents signed a photography release for your swimmers. However, if you would like to opt out of having your swimmer's photo used on our social media or website, PLEASE let us know ASAP!
  • We will be having all swimmers wear either team suits, plain black/blue suits, and team caps and shirts.
