Bronze Recap
Hello everyone!
This meet recap is a bit delayed as it seems that not only I, but a lot of the swimmers, have suffered from the illness that I may or may not have inadvertently spread on Sunday of the meet. If you must know, I was dyingonWednesdayandreallyneededtogethomeandwasbasicallybedriddenallthroughoutThursday. Thought I was gonna meet the maker on Thursday, but I prevailed on Friday!
Anyway, let's talk about Bronze! This meet was full of surprises for both the coaches and the swimmers! The 10&Under session went as per usual for a meet, but the next two sessions were quick! It was definitely brutal for them as it was a very fast-paced meet with little to no rest in between events. There were some swimmers who literally just stayed on deck the entire time for their events. That being said, we still had some great races and PR's! I was impressed with the tenacity that the swimmers had and the toughness just to go up and get after it again and again. Overall, despite the quick turnaround, all the swimmers did fantastic this weekend! I saw a lot of swimmers apply what they've learned in practice into their races and it paid massive dividends!
Make sure swimmers do come up to their coaches after a race to talk about the race! It is important to have these conversations so that the swimmer does learn what they did well and what didn't go as well so that they can further improve their swimming capabilities! Furthermore, in the swimming world, we are here to support the swimmer. This is their swimming career and they are swimming for themselves! They must want it by themselves for themselves. As the supporting cast (coaches and parents) it is our job to provide the appropriate support that our role is intended to do. The coach's role is to give the swimmers the mental (the athlete's mind, good habits) and physical (training) aspect while the parents' role is to give the emotional (love, words of encouragement and affirmations) and physical (food) aspects to the swimmers. Trust us coaches do the coaching (it is literally what we get paid to do!!!) as we trust all of you parents to give that emotional support to your swimmers (you all are doing a good job)! We will ensure that your swimmer will be able to achieve the best they can achieve!
That is all I got for today! Stay tuned for the next installment of Karishim News!
