Shawmut Places 3rd at NE Senior Circuit Meet!
At the Senior Circuit Meet, held at Boston University, the Shawmut Senior Team swam fast and saw huge improvements during every session. Shawmut had four first-time qualifiers for Junior Nationals: Gabe Davis (100 fly, 200 fly), Ray McGorry (50 free, 100 fly, 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke), Roy Sung (400 IM, 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke), and Katy Zingale (100 fly)!! Ray McGorry qualified for Senior Nationals in the 100 breaststroke (57.59)! Ray and the others join Senior National qualifiers Meg Hutchinson and Clare Foster.
A total of 13 team records were broken throughout the weekend! Ray McGorry set records in the 50 free, 100 breaststroke, and 200 breaststroke. Roy Sung dropped 7 seconds in his 400 IM and set a new team record (407.12). Meg Hutchinson broke her own 200 backstroke record (2:02.26) and smashed the 200 freestyle record as well (1:53.55). Clare Foster broke the 200 IM record (2:05.39), and Alex Moothart established himself as Shawmut's most dominant distance swimmer, shattering the 500, 1,000, and 1,650 freestyle records.
Shawmut saw impressive performances in the relay events every night. The seniors stayed tough and stepped it up, swimming personal best times in the relays despite being tired at the end of the day. Our boys 400 free relay (McGorry, Sung, Tse, Davis) and the 800 free relay (McGorry, Moothart, Tse, Davis) posted new team records. Our girls 400 Medley relay (Hutchinson, Foster, Zingale, Doolin) set a new team record as well.
Congratulations to the Shawmut Senior Team!
