Shawmut swimmers dominated at our mid-season December meets!
At USA Junior Nationals, the Shawmut Candy Cane Classic, and the MIT invitational, our group posted a grand total of 779 best times! Gabe Davis and Roy Sung traveled to Columbus, Ohio with coach Matt for the Junior National meet and represented Shawmut well! The MIT meet offered a trials/finals format, and many in the group qualified for finals in numerous events. The meet hosted many teams from outside of New England, and it was a great opportunity for our group to compete against swimmers from around the country. The CCC is always fun, and as usual, we swam fast in our home pool!
In just 2 weekends, Shawmut swimmers added 39 new entries to the Shawmut All-time Top 5 lists and set 6 new team records! Lauren Grasberger set team records in the 11-12 girls 50 backstroke (30.07) and 100 backstroke (1:04.19). Molly Pierce broke a 16 year old team record in the 11-12 girls 200 IM (2:16.96). Drew Beland set a new top mark in the 11-12 boys 1650 free (18:51.14). The 11-12 girls 200 freestyle relay (Molly Pierce, Lauren Grasberger, Christine Yang, Elsie Slowe) smashed the previous team record with a time of 1:48.41. Kayla Lilly broke her own team record in the 13-14 girls 100 breaststroke (1:06.06). Way to go!!
