Shawmut Excels at New England 13-19 Championships

Shawmut swimmers posted 191 best times over the course of the championship weekend at MIT and placed 3rd overall in team standings! 19 team records were broken and Shawmut's 13-14 girls 200 Medley Relay (Grasberger, Lilly, Pierce, Brindisi) crushed the NE record with a time of 1:51.85. Individual record breakers: Megan Pierce (13-14 1650 free, 200 fly, 400 IM), Shawn Nee (13-14 200 back), Richard Smith (13-14 1650 free), Kayla Lilly (13-14 100 & 200 breaststroke) and Lauryn Brown (15-18 50 free). Shawmut relays shocked New England and exceeded expectations. All 10 relay team records for the 13-14 age group were broken. Shawmut's Sectional team grew significantly as the weekend progressed. Annie Thayer, Megan Pierce, and Matt Wurm were first-time Sectional qualifiers, and many others added events to their Sectional meet schedule. Congratulations to SAC high point winners (top 8): Shawn Nee (13-14 boys, 3rd), Roy Sung (15-19 boys, 5th) and Gabe Davis (15-19 boys, 6th).
