Shawmut Records Fall at MIT invitational

Shawmut swimmers posted 185 best times over the course of the weekend at the MIT Invitational, December 9-12. Andrea Wei set new team records in the 9-10 Butterfly events: 50 Fly (30.47) and 100 Fly (1:07.75). Wei currently ranks first in New England in both events. The 11-12 girls 200 free relay squad (Christine Yang, Elsie Slowe, Claire Milne, Emma Benkert) posted a top time of 1:48.07, inching out the previous team record. The 11-12 Girls 400 free relay (Samantha McDonald, Slowe, Yang, Benkert) smashed the team record with a time of 3:52.35.
 
The MIT Invite hosted teams from outside of the LSC, and it was a great opportunity for the group to compete against teams from around the country. Shawmut represented well, and had numerous swimmers return to compete in finals every night.
