Welcome to the 2025 YMCA of Metro North Tritons Summer Long Course Season!

Welcome to the 2025 YMCA of Metro North Tritons Summer Long Course Season!

April 27- July 27, 2025

Today is the first official day of the season, which will kick off with the dual meet against the JCC of North Shore this evening at 3:20pm. Tomorrow will begin our first day of practice for Groups A, B, and C (and Tuesday for Tiny Tritons); our practice schedule remains mostly the same this summer as it did in the fall/winter (see attached schedule for reference). Swimmers who are returning to the team should continue to practice with the same groups they were in at the end of the winter season, unless you have previously discussed with Coach Tim. At tomorrow’s (Monday’s) practice, we will begin with a brief meeting and introductions for all swimmers. Please have your athletes ready to be in the water at their practice times, but let them know we will be talking for 10-15 minutes before getting in the water. For swimmers who cannot make practice in Peabody on Monday, we will have brief introductions at the beginning of practice each day this week, so your swimmers will have a chance to meet the team.

Our TeamUnify (now SportsEngine) site was down last week, but Jess will be sending out invites to the TeamUnify/SportsEngine site for new parents before the start of practice tomorrow. Please make sure that you have a current email address for the TeamUnify/SportsEngine site, as this will be the primary method of communication going forward (you will receive most non-individual emails from me and Jess through the TeamUnify/SportsEngine platform).

Unfortunately, the Events page of the SportsEngine site is still down, so you cannot currently sign up for meets. Registration for the JCCS dual meet, CS 14&U IMR, and CS Jenny Thompson Classic are closed, but there is still space available at the CS Summer Sizzler the weekend of June 14-15th for experienced swimmers that want to get LCM meets in. There will be another LCM meet at the Beverly YMCA the weekend of May 30-June 1, and the sign-ups for that should be available shortly. For newer swimmers, there will be a meet with DYD and CS @ Haverhill High School on Saturday, May 30th. This meet does not require USA Swimming registration, and will be a much more relaxed setting. There will be a few more meets later in June as well, with more information to follow as those get closer. The Events page should be back up on Monday or Tuesday; I will let you know when this happens so you can sign up for meets at that time.

I will be giving all athletes in Groups B and C a goal setting sheet at practice on Monday (it is also attached and will be available throughout the week for athletes who are not there on Monday). I will be asking them to complete this and return it by Tuesday, May 6th. I have also attached a copy of the Code of Conduct for all athletes; please print and sign the first two pages and have your athletes bring them in to practice this week. I will also have some copies printed at practice for anyone who cannot print on their own. Please turn in the Code of Conduct to Coach Tim or another coach ASAP (and by next Tuesday, May 6th at the latest).

Lastly, please reach out to me (Coach Tim) via email ([email protected]) if you have any questions on swim meets, practice, or expectations for athletes. A reminder that I am often coaching on the pool deck and do not have access to my laptop with my email, so I may not be able to answer all of your questions right away. If you ever have questions about registration, payment, the YMCA, working at the YMCA, or you cannot get a hold of me/need a question answered more urgently, please reach out to Jess Murray at [email protected]. In general, these are the times when I am most likely to respond to your emails:

  • Mondays from 12-4pm
  • Tuesdays from 12-3pm
  • Wednesdays from 4-7pm
  • Thursdays from 12-3pm

In addition, I will have office hours every Monday from 3:30-4:30pm at the Peabody YMCA, and most Wednesdays from 4:30-7pm at the Melrose YMCA – if you want to get a hold of me in person, these are great times to do so. You can also reach out to me to schedule a meeting if those times do not work for you. Again, please reach out to me or Jess with any questions, and we are looking forward to a great start to the Summer 2025 season!

Sincerely, Coach Tim
