YMCA of Metro North Tritons Coaching Staff Team

Coach Tim - Association Head Coach - [email protected]

Coach Tim fell in love with swimming when he joined a competitive swim team at the age of 5. Throughout his youth swimming career, he qualified and competed in meets including CT Age Groups, Eastern Zones, and YMCA Nationals. As a freshman and sophomore in high school, Tim helped found the South Windsor High School Swim Team, where he swam for 3 years. He started teaching swim lessons in the summer of 2011 and coaching a summer recreational team in 2013.

Tim then attended Tufts University, where he was a member of the varsity swim team, club water polo team, and taught swim lessons for 4 years. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and Master of Science in Innovation and Management from Tufts and went on to work as a management consultant in the energy industry for 4 years. However, his passion for swimming and teaching brought him back to the pool deck in Fall 2023, where he hopes to instill a love for the fun, challenge, and camaraderie that comes with swimming.

Coach Amy

Amy joined YMNT in 2017. Before joining she had coaching experience with all age groups from 8 and under through college. She was also a USA Swimming official for over 15 years.  She is a former club, high school, and college swimmer.  As a collegiate athlete, she was a 4-time NCAA national qualifier and a 3 time All American.

Coach Reid

Originally from Northeast Pennsylvania, Reid started as a diver when he was 8 years old. Conflict between his diving schedule and his brothers' swim schedule caused him to be forced out of diving and onto the swim team when he was 9. Swimming through high school and college (Ursinus College) resulted in a swimming career of 13 years! After graduating college, Reid moved to Melrose, where he found the Tritons swim team and started coaching as a hobby. As a coach for many ages, Reid tries to provide thoughtful and targeted practices, while making them dynamic, so the swimmers don't get bored.

Although Reid might say he's a washed-up athlete, he participates and trains for many different activities. He's currently training for a half IronMan (Mussleman in Geneva, NY) and a marathon. Reid's an avid mountain biker, rock climber, snowboarder, and recently got into disc golf.

Coach Luc

Luc began his coaching career with the Tritons in 2023 but he started swimming 13 years ago, moving from CO to CA, and ending up in MA. He was captain of his high school team, and helped his college win the LEC championship 2 years in a row. Luc started out as a backstroker, but now his favorite stroke is butterfly, and his favorite events are the 100, 200 butterfly, and the 200 freestyle.

Luc is completing a physical education bachelor’s from Bridgewater State University and is currently triathlon training for Nationals in September. He will be racing IM 70.3 North Carolina in October, and a 50 mile ultramarathon in November.

Coach Angie

Coach Angie began swimming at the YMCA where her mother taught swim lessons. She began competing for New Wave Swim Club at age 7 and for Lowell High School in the 200 IM, 500 Freestyle, and 100 backstroke and relays. Angie began teaching swim lessons at age 15 and has taught lessons for over 10 years at all levels from patent child classes to triathlon prep, coached for New Wave Swim Club, Dracut High School, and taught at the Boston Sports Club, Chicago Blue Dolphins, and YMCA, and loves to share her passion for efficiency, fun, and safety in the water.  While at UMass Amherst, Angela competed in intercollegiate racquetball on a national level. Off the pool deck, Angie spends time with her family, crochets, cooks, volunteers, and goes for walks.

Coach Jacob

Jacob's journey in swimming began at age 11 with the Peabody-Lynnfield YMCA Piranhas, later transitioning to the Metro North Tritons, and continued until completing high school. His favorite events include the 500 Freestyle, 200 IM, and 200 Freestyle. At 15, Jacob started teaching swim lessons at the Torigian YMCA and later returned to the Tritons as a part-time coach post-graduation. He's committed to fostering a fun, friendly, and inclusive swimming environment while sharing his enduring passion for the sport.

Junior Coach Michael

Michael just started his first year coaching with the YMCA Tritons. This is his second year swimming with the Tritons and his high school team. He is excited to dedicate time and effort into fostering and creating a bond with each and every swimmer that he coaches. His favorite events to swim include the 500 Freestyle, 200 Individual Medley, and the 100 Butterfly. Off the pool deck, Michael is a Lifeguard, and Swim Instructor with a strong passion for working with children. Additionally, he is passionate about pursuing a career in pediatric emergency medicine.

Coach Jess - Administrator - [email protected]

As the Association Director of Aquatics at the YMCA of Metro North, Jess provides leadership and administrative support for the Tritons, and you may see her assist with coaching duties when needed. Jess has an extensive background in competitive swimming, having swam for the YMCA, New Wave, and Lowell High School in her youth. She then went on to become a Division 1 rower for San Diego State University and was able to continue her passion for swimming by participating in Triathlons. Jess's philosophy is to motivate people through education. She believes in empowering swimmers to reach their full potential by teaching them the technical and tactical aspects of the sport, as well as instilling the values of dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
