Nick Cavic + George Groves Named USA Swimming Scholastic All-Americans; Commonwealth Swimming Earns Bronze Medal Status
USA Swimming has announced its 2023–2024 Scholastic All-American Team, and Commonwealth Swimming's Nick Cavic and George Groves join the impressive roster of 1,790 student-athletes.
In order to be considered for this year's team, swimmers had to earn a GPA of at least 3.5 for the 2023-2024 school year and achieve any of the high-level competition criteria between September 1, 2023 and August 31, 2024. Both Nick and George are Junior National qualifiers.
The highly-selective team features 402 athletes from the Eastern Zone, and Nick and George are two of just 41 student-athletes from New England to earn a spot.
In other good news, USA Swimming announced the top 201 clubs recognized as Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal clubs in the 2024-2025 Club Excellence Program, now in its 24th year. Commonwealth Swimming was one of the teams recognized, earning Bronze medal status.
The Club Excellence Program recognizes USA Swimming’s highest-performing clubs, those which develop strong, well-rounded age group and senior swimming programs that produce elite 18+under athletes. For 2024-2025, Commonwealth Swimming was one of only six teams in New England to be honored through the program’s point-based system.
