USA Swimming has announced its 2023–2024 Scholastic All-American Team, and Commonwealth Swimming's Nick Cavic and George Groves join the impressive roster of 1,790 student-athletes. In order to be considered for this year's team, swimmers had to earn a GPA of at least 3.5 for the 2023-2024 school year and achieve any of the high-level competition criteria between September 1, 2023 and August 31, 2024. Earlier this month, USA Swimming announced that 201 clubs will be recognized as Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal clubs in the 2021-2022 Club Excellence Program, now in its 22nd year. Gator Swim Club was one of the teams recognized, earning Bronze medal status. The Club Excellence Program recognizes USA Swimming’s highest-performing clubs, those which develop strong, well-rounded age group and senior swimming programs that produce elite 18+under athletes. Gators continued to shine on the last day of the 11-12 Age Group Championship. Lydia won her second championship of the meet by finishing first in the 100 meter free with a winning time of 1:02.89. Our girls then capped off the meet by winning the 400 free relay with the team of Elizabeth, Reese, Sadie and Lydia in a time of 4:23.99.
Congratulations to our New England Champions! Great swimming by Gator today at the 11-12 and 13-14 New England Championships. This evenings finals produced 3 New England Championships for Gators. Lydia won the girls 11-12 50 meter free in a time of 29.46. Damien won the boys 13-14 100 meter breaststroke in a time of 1:10.91. Capping off the evenings racing the 13-14 Boys 400 Medley Relay team of Kai, Damien, Nick and Oliver won the title in a time of 4:26.47. Congratulations to our New England Champions!!
