We’re thrilled that you’re interested in joining our team!
Before we get started, please note that competitive swim team participation is different from swim lessons. As such, a swim assessment is required before joining.
TRYOUT PROCESS
As part of the tryout, your swimmer will be invited to attend a practice session with the group that best matches their current skill level. This helps us determine the right fit within our training structure.
🔹 Swimmers must bring their own gear bag to the tryout.
🔹 13 & Over Swimmers: Parents will not be permitted to watch practice.
🔹 12 & Under Swimmers: Parents may watch, but must not interrupt the session.
After the tryout, we will follow up with you within 24 hours. Please understand that a final decision may not be made immediately, as our coaches take time to thoughtfully evaluate each swimmer’s placement.
IF YOU’RE COMING FROM ANOTHER CLUB TEAM
Please email us your swimmer’s official times from the USA Swimming website (www.usaswimming.org) under the “Times Search” tab. This gives us a quick look at their experience and performance level.
🔹 Assessment is still required, even with previous club experience.
🔹 Transparency is important - please inform your current coach that you’re exploring other options.
CURRENT WEYMOUTH CLUB MEMBERS
If your swimmer is already part of the Weymouth Waves lesson program, they should have completed Level 6 and be enrolled in either JV or Waves 101 Program before trying out for the competitive team.
NEW SWIMMERS FROM OTHER LESSON PROGRAMS
If you’re joining us from a different swim school or program, please let us know in your communication so we can understand your swimmer’s background and guide you accordingly.
