MYM January 26 News
I hope those swimmers entered in the upcoming Short Course Championship meets are excited to compete! The coaches will continue to finalize the entries for these meets and will communicate further details as we receive them from the meet managers. Please continue to check the events on our website and your emails from us. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me and Coach Madison if you have any questions about these meets. The next few weeks will involve a tapering of the practice intensities to allow our athletes to rest and be at their best for these meets. They should continue to take good care of themselves and rest as much as possible at home to prepare.
As many of you are beginning to make your summer plans now, I wanted to remind our Novice 1 and up training groups (all groups except Flippers and Mini Dolphins) that your swimmers are enrolled in our program through July 26th. Your swimmer’s practice times and training groups will remain as is all spring until June 23rd. There will be a summer practice schedule after this date, which will be sent to you later this spring and it will include training in a 50 meter, outdoor pool in the early mornings and evening practices at the Park Street Large pool. We will be selecting appropriate meets for our team and posting them on our website for the spring and summer as they are announced.
Having said that, we will have a two week break with no practices for our Novice 1 and up groups (again, all groups except for Flippers and Mini Dolphins) from April 1 through April 14, with practices to resume Monday, April 15th, to allow our athletes and coaches to recharge.
In other news, please note that the Park Street Y will be closing at 5:30 pm next Friday, February 2nd due to an all Y staff meeting that evening. Mini Dolphins, Flippers, Novice 2, Junior 3, Junior 2 and Senior 2 practices will not be held on this date as a result.
Senior 1 and Junior 1, please note that moving forward all Saturday morning practices will be combined and from 9:15-11:15.
I'm thrilled to announce a new, outstanding coach has joined our team, Alex Gamero. You can learn about Alex and all of our wonderful coaches here: https://www.gomotionapp.com/team/njmydst/page/system/coaches.
The YMCA of Montclair will be hosting a Special Olympics swim meet on March 16th. We will be seeking volunteers from our team. Those signups and details would be forthcoming.
Thank you so much to everyone for making this a fantastic season, and we’re looking forward to more fun and fast times very soon.
Go Dolphins!
