Sharma & Maruska Earn Gold at Silver/Bronze Championships

When 7-year-old Nathaniel Kern finished first in his heat of the 100 Back, he slapped the water and raised his pointer in the air. “I feel like a professional!”, he explained to Coach Julie afterward.

That excitement permeated throughout the weekend by our swimmers at the NJ Swimming Silver/Bronze Championships at Berkeley Aquatic Center.

Leading the way for NJB was Sean Sharma and Jordan Maruska.  Jordan took two First Places (100 Breast, 200 Free) and four other Top-8 finishes at the meet, while earning a JO time in her 100 Breast. Sean took First in the 50 Free, and three other Top-8 finishes at the meet, also earning a JO cut in his 50 Free.

Of the 43 splashes over the 3-day meet, 20 were Career Best Times. Personal bests were swum by Ethan Cross (100 Breast, 100 Free); Grace Fusco (100 Breast); Ryan Juckett (100 Free); Nathaniel Kern (100 Back); Jordan Maruska (100 Back, 100 Breast, 100 Free, 200 Free, 200 IM, 50 Free); Teddy Mills (100 Free); Syd Mills (100 Free); Sean Sharma (100 Back, 100 Fly, 50, 100 & 200 Free); and Hannah Soutter (100 Free, 200 Back).
